that was insane..I bet the hazard pay is great! Oh, and I'm sure AT&T sub contracts out this work.

I used to that years ago mostly in Ca., the highest I climbed was around 350ft on the Nbc tower at Mt. Wilson. I used to build 2way radio data and voice systems. In the end we could not compete with Nextel. It was a fun job must climbed 40 mountain tops.

I worked for Verizon for one week when I was younger - I fell off of a telephone pole twice in that week, 6 meters ( 18 feet ) and and 8 meters (24 feet ). Needless to say, I was very uncomfortable watching this video.

I think it's pretty easy to dislike a corporation and its practices without holding any malice towards its workers and employees.

After watching the video I can see why some of you felt weak. Even watching the ascent on my iPhone's small screen turned my stomach. Almost gave me vertigo in bed and I'm not afraid of heights!

Radio Tower Worker - You Think Your Job Is Tough?

i am not afraid of heights, used to rock-climb and have being dangling out my share of high mountains walls, but this is plainly INSANE.

DISCLAIMER: not for the vertigo-inclined

I am actually amazed that this is even allowed.
they could at least put safety lines from the top for the last bit.

in any case, these men have ballz. wow.

edit: sorry, i didn't see this thread as I didn't relate the radio tower to AT&T (is it related?)
thanks mods for moving into the appropriate thread

i think it works great, actually.

it adds to their exceptionality that they present it as regular no big-deal stuff

I think I was expecting to hear some wise cracks about it or SOMETHING. Just this monotone, long paused, meh-ness.

Still, whoa! I'm no chicken but that would give me a serious case of the puckers.

had to turn away a couple of times while watching this video..wiped my palms 30 times.
