Hi all,

What’s on your 2019 iPhone wish list, what upgrades do they need in order to convince you to part with your hard earned cash?

I currently own an iPhone XS and I’d like to keep it for another 12 months, but I have this same argument with myself EVERY year, then I watch the announcement video during the keynotes and I’m sold! I hate it!

For me, I’d like a significant camera upgrade this year, featuring a revamped night mode for low light shots... and that’s probably enough to convince me!

What’s on your wish list?

Make the camera hump flush with the casing.
I’d like this too but can’t imagine it happening for a long time. At the moment, it would mean either making the entire phone thicker or the camera components slimmer resulting in reduced photo quality.

Which is why my wife and I got Pixels this year. Been waiting since 2015 to see if Apple would get rid of it - they have not.

However, I also understand that I fall into a minority. Most people want a better camera and if I accept the argument that a better camera means a camera hump (and I still am not sure I buy that argument) then yeah, it's not going to change for some time.

I just use my phone differently. 99% of the pictures I take are of the things on the shelves at grocery stores so my wife can make a choice about what she wants me to bring home - so a better camera isn't really relevant to me.

pencil support, I draw a lot and along with procreate pocket it be a awesome digital sketch book out and about,
frosted back for better grip (but i use a case most all the time, so either is fine
camera upgrade that pushes phone photos to the next level of true camera replacement
I’m looking to upgrade to the 11 this year as long as the camera is on par with the plus as I’d
like to get into a smaller form factor for a phone
but what ever they do is fine as long as quality is there and the os is solid and they don’t rise the price to much more

How can you say an underwhelming release when it’s not even been announced yet, let alone released?
Based on rumours and the fact that smartphone market is reaching maturity. No one can keep innovating on the same thing forever.

I guess I don’t really have a ‘wish list’ per se, but if there was one thing I could add to the iPhone to borrow it from the Galaxy Note line, it would be a built-in stylus into the iPhone itself. I find myself I could use a stylus for reachability/note-taking, but I realize Apple likely may not add Pencil support until 2020, maybe 2019. (But I have my doubts for this year.)

Qualcomm radio/modem, at least for GSM and CDMA. Being able to connect, even with a pathetically weak signal, is the most important thing the iPhone dev team can do. I didn't buy the latest iPhones precisely because of all the connectivity complaints. Still rocking the 7, with a Qualcomm modem. It works flawlessly.

I’m quite happy with my XS Max, but if a proper dual SIM version were available, I could be tempted. Make it lighter (not smaller) and even more tempted. ESIM just isn’t good enough, very few networks offer it (UK EE, Spain Vodafone) and it isn’t available as PAYG which I would like for travel purposes. I am really not interested in the data only plans that can cover multiple countries, I need a proper local SIM to send texts & make calls as well as use data.

I’m not planning to upgrade from my iP8+, but if they had the following features I would.

- USB-C
- Physical dual sim slot
- No notch & screen ratio 16:9

The one thing we are guaranteed it will have it plenty of threads here about it being the worst phone ever, has the worst battery life, is the slowest phone ever, tec

Well, aside from what looks like paltry upgrades, the three year design cycles are too long for a product that is already now boring and mature. The least they could do is spice it up every other year like they used to. But same design and very incremental hardware updates, how can people not complain, especially for the prices asked?

This really is shaping up to be the most yawn-worthy update in iPhone history, there's just nothing compelling rumored to be happening. 3 lens camera? Yawn, camera upgrades are de facto expected on an annual basis these days. It's especially shaping up to be yawn-worthy knowing already how much better the 2020 phones will be with 5G, Qualcomm, and surely a redesign. The final year of Intel alone with a multi year Qualcomm exclusive deal coming starting next year is reason enough to skip 2019.

Year six of the same old rounded sides incoming.
