Chem, how did you guess :)

I wonder if the results would be different in this poll today because the 13 did not get the i5/i7 updated. many 13 users may have gone bigger to get the new chip and have a new favorite screen size.

I used to think I was small, around 5'6", but the way everyone on these forums talks about how a 15" MBP wouldn't fit on their lap or is too bulky makes me think maybe I'm not that small. I guess they're all really frail to because they complain that anything bigger than the 13" is too heavy and they wouldn't want to carry it around with them. I completely disagree.

The 15" MBP is the perfect size, not too big, not too small. It isn't uncomfortable on your lap and is not bulky (the 17" is though). Maybe it's just me but when I use anything smaller than 15" I feel like its a highly inferior machine, and it usually is. Even if I never lifted weights, max bench 305 lbs, I would say the 15" is not heavy and it is not a pain to carry around. It weighs 5-6 lbs, around 1 lb more than the 13". How is that heavy? Can you carry groceries? If yes, you can carry a 15" no problem. The 15" is also much much much more powerful and advanced than the 13". The 17" is nice, but I would never need a screen that big and I couldn't afford one anyway.

gotta love the poll results, who would not pick the 17 if money was not an option?

Me.

I personally wish they'd offer a high performance 13". Not that I have hte money for it, but then I'd have a dream computer to drool at.

It would take a lot of advantages for me to pick something larger over a 13" since size is pretty important. I mean it is designed to be portable and I don't want to lug a huge computer around. I already have a 21" monitor at home to connect the notebook to so why would I really care that it have a large screen (it's not worth it to have a 17" just for when I'm mobile)? 21" is way better than 17" anyways.

12" is my favorite size.. but since they don't make it anymore I vote for the 13". It fits nicely in my lap and in my bag.

I agree. The purpose of my computer is to be able to take it wherever I need to so the smaller, the better.

15" is too big. 13" is too small to pack power and sufficient cooling. Hence why I'm getting a 14" laptop.

I have a 13" and 15" and would stick with the 13" if it was a travel only laptop and the 15" if it was used primarily at one location.

Which of the two do you find yourself using most often?

Do you use your 15" on the go or on your lap at all?

About equal. I use the 13" when traveling and at work and the 15" is on my desktop at home.

If I had to have just one it would be the 13" as it's a bit more versatile and very nearly as capable as the 15".

cheers

I find 15" to be the sweet spot in terms of size, weight and price. I use a 24" display whenever I'm in my office and home. I considered a 17", but I feel it's waaay to big IMO.

cheers"

I've had a 13" MBP (as well as 13" white Macbook), but I I decided after awhile that a 13" @1280x800 was just not enough real estate and i wouldn't even consider a 17", far too big to be portable.

So imo 15" is the sweet spot :)

I have used each, and the 15" is my favorite. Not too cramped and not too large, just right!

I was going to get the 13" because it is good for travel, but I didn't like the update, so I got the 15". Now, after using my new computer for a bit, I think I prefer the 15". It's not too hard to carry, and I am really enjoying the larger screen.

13" ist too small for work imo. It is okay if you have a Desktop at home but if it is the only PC it is too small.
I use an external display but I carry my Notebook arround a lot and 13" doesn't do it. Size and res of the screen is too small.
15" is my favorite choice but I would prefer something slightly smaller. 14.1" or a 15" with almost zero bezel at least left and right. For some bags the 15" is already difficult to fit in. An inch or just a half in the length would help. I don't care about weight at all.

For me it's always been 15" but I gotta say I did adapt to using my sister's 13" as well. I just like a bigger screen size and find 15" is the perfect mix between the 13" and 17" and still not to heavy.
