are u guys realistic with prices or are u just throwing ridiculous pricing in the air ?

Realistically a 17" rMBP is going to cost $2500 starting price for a 2.0GHz i7, 8GB of RAM and a 256 SSD.

EDIT: It might actually come standard with a 750M, though.

15 inch without any top or side boarders and make the whole computer this size and still thin
880m
All day battery
Cooler running

macbook pro 17" with:
4K display
Newest core i7 quad core (future)
860m graphics minimum, SLI as option
16GB Ram standard
TWO 2,5 " ssds (sata)
Optical drive
30000 mah Battery (don't really care about bulk or thickness, thinness is irrelevant)
4 TB2 Ports (4 Displays)
4 USB 3.0 Ports
2 10 GbE Ports
Normal non chiclet style keyboard with numeric pad
User-replaceble Ram
10 year Apple care coverage

With these specs I might even buy one of those overpriced macbooks!!!!

17" Retina
16GB DDR3 1600MHz
Haswell i7 2.0GHz QuadCore
Iris Pro
256GB SSD
3 USB 3.0 Ports.

I don't need fancy graphics since I have a Playstation and a Wii nor a big SSD because I have a 3TB NAS Server and a 1TB WD HDD hooked up to my AirPort Extreme.
Just a 17" display. One can only dream...

:)

a solar powered(that can charge off a lamp) battery charging powered 15" with a 4k display so i would never have to charge it or worry about it battery life , and a titan or 780 ti , and the most important thing of all NON-SHINING KEYS , keys that don't become shiny after use , - meh dream that will probably never be accomplished lol

A Macbook Air body style with a 13 inch display in a smaller footprint than the current 13 inch MBA (almost no bezel) that also has a retina display and 24 hour battery life. Oh yea and user upgradable ram via a tiny plug on the side:)

How much smaller can the footprint get?

17" antiglare screen, 1TB SSD, i7 quad core, 16GB RAM, I'd be one happy camper

Well the bezel on the current 13"MBA is rather large and IMO there is also some wasted space around the wrist rest area. Compare it to the footprint of the 13"rMBP and while not a huge difference, it definitely is noticeable. I prefer the wedge and thinness of the MBA but the footprint of the 13"rMBP.

Again I am not knocking the current MBA as I own one, but this is our "dream machine" :)

15 inch MacBook Pro (Retina)
2880 x 1400 usable resolution
32GB DDR3 1600
512GB SLC SSD
AMD Radeon™ HD 8850M Series GPU
Intel® Core™ i7-4940MX (quad) @ 3.1 GHZ

The current high-end 15" rMBP with the following changes:

750M-->850M
2880x1800-->3300x2100 resolution with a similarly good quality panel in other respects
IGZO backlighting
The ability to switch iGPU/dGPU in bootcamp

So if you could create your perfect Macbook pro (being somewhat realistic w/ 2014 standards) what would it look like?

Here is mine:

Screen: 14" Retina
RAM: 16GB
SSD: 512GB
CPU: Some form of i7 Quad-core
Graphics: ANY dedicated

"Somewhat realistic"

The one i have but if i had to use my imagination, id say this

15" Retina
32GB RAM
2TB SSD
i7 Octo-Core.
The best Nvidia Mobile GPU. (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M or something i dont really know)

17" retina
1 to 2 tb SSD
16gb memory with 32gb option
keyboard with numeric pad
dock with power & TB connections that then provides other connections

- Replaceable RAM modules, up to 64GB 2133+ MHz (yes, I want loading a huge amount of data at once).
- SSD: 40Gbps, RAM-class swapping speeds (for intensive, big data computing, you could use the SSD as an extension of RAM).
- i7 hexa-core.
- uniformly tinted retina displays, just like any professional (EIZO, NEC) screen.
- nVidia GPU for CUDA computing. If the RAM is of DDR4 type, it could have its memory shared.

Well, you asked about a dream, but I don't see it happening since most top-notch PCs still use SATAIII storage.

15" 3360 x 2100 display (So 1680 x 1050 could be the default retina)
1 TB SSD
Quad core i7
16GB of RAM (minimum, preferably 32GB)
High Performance Integrated graphics (I'm fearful of Apple's dGPU use)

I'm actually very happy with my current system (15" rMBP, 2.3 i7, 512 SSD, 750m)

The Iris Pro wasn't quite there yet, but soon I think iGPU's will be sufficient to smoothly drive all but the most demanding tasks (yes dGPU's will always be faster, but all things considered the iGPU is better). Apple's history with dGPU's scares me and piece of mind is important.

I'm still gun-shy about running this system on the 750m often.

15" 4k Display
4.7GHz Quad i7
32GB RAM
1TB SSD
4 USB 3.0 Ports
12Hr Battery
nVidia Graphics 2GB!

Better Speakers
Smaller Display Bezel

So basically a Mac Pro in notebook form :)

CPU: Quad-core i7
RAM: 32GB
Storage: 500GB (I will be using DAS/NAS for media files anyway)
GPU: Doesn't matter as long as it's capable of driving internal LCD and external LCD without hiccup
Battery life: 10 hours+ with 85 cd/m^2 brightness
Screen: 13.3-inch retina
Expansion: Thunderbolt 3 for driving retina 27" display
Misc: Reduce bezel size, Touch ID

I like to think my dream MBP is reasonable. I would like a 13" available with a quad core processor and a dedicated video card.

The 15" is just a little too heavy and too big for me to carry around, the 13" is the sweet spot for me. :)

My current laptop is RMBP Late, 2.0Ghz, 16GB Memory, 256GB PCI-SSD

My dream laptop with broadwell would be:

4K 16" screen same size as RMBP 15" but with smaller bezel. Maybe a 17".
Quad-core i7
32GB memory
1TB PCI-SSD
Powerfull IGPU
Fanless without getting hot
Long battery-life like 10 hours with intensive work.
Touch ID
HDMI 2.0
Lighter and thinner like the Macbook Air or like the new 12" Retina Macbook.

Besides crazy specs, like a bunch of RAM, power to do anything at insane speeds, and battery that will last you days...I have had one wish for a while: Being able to take of the screen on my 15" rMBP. The size, weight and design of the current rMBP is great. I would love if I could take the thin and beautiful display(lid) off and use it as a 15" tablet. It would wirelessly receive everything needed from the main body, also the energy to function. A large range, to be able to walk around the house with the display as tablet. Clicking it back to the main body would be easy and seamless.

:p

Interesting.
