I’ve tried sports loops, leather loops, sport bands and Milanese loop. I find the most comfortable to be the sports loop and that is what I wear mostly. On some occasions I use the leather loops, but found the milánese loop and sport band to irritate my skin so no longer have these bands.

I don’t have a picture, but I love the nylon buckles. I have 3 different colors I wear regularly. Those and my apple leather are my favorite bands ever.

Pearl Jam. I’m digging the new album!

Lol when I saw the title, before I realized it was about watch bands, I immediately thought Metallica. ;-p

My grandson, who will be 2 in September, is obsessed with Queen. There’s one particular song they happened to play one day when he was crying in the car, and now if he’s upset in the car, my daughter has to play it on repeat. It wasn’t even one of their big hits - I can’t remember the name of it, but I cannot tell you how many times I heard that song on our last road trip. He’s broadened his little horizons now, as he likes several other of their songs just as much (thank goodness - some variety).

;-p

Oh, I think it’s ”Don’t Stop Me Now.”

I switch between leather loop and Milanese loop. The Milanese is third party which I am not completely happy about but I am a bit scared of the DLC coating of the Apple one.

There’s hardly another band with that many hits and Don’t Stop Me Now is just phenomenal. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah it really is a good song - just not 25 times in a row. I was glad when he branched out a bit. My son-in-law is an old soul - collects and rebuilds old cars, and likes a lot of old school stuff, so their girls love old music. My granddaughter named her new puppy Louis, after Louis Armstrong (she specifically said it was after Louis Armstrong because he sings “What a Wonderful World.” She’s 6.

I love it - makes road trips a lot more interesting than straight up Disney tunes, even though I like some of those too. ;-p

Does Apple have a normal schedule, date, or timeline the usually go by for when they discontinue their watch band colors/options?

Do I need to purchase a particular band before it is discontinued? And when might that happen?

I would like to wait before I buy a watch and band, but want a specific band color that might possibly disappear before I buy it.

Any advice would be appreciated!

If there is a band that you want, then you should buy it, even if you don't have a watch, yet. If you never get a watch, you won't have trouble selling the band. Last summer I didn't have a watch, yet, but I really wanted the canary yellow band. I thought about it for about 2 weeks, and decided to buy. It was already becoming hard to find - not available at a bunch of apple stores, sold out at apple online. I ordered it from amazon and put it away. When I finally got my watch in October (glad I waited for the S5!) I instantly had two bands - the one it came with and my canary yellow. It was a good decision.

Thanks for your help.

Did they discontinue the canary yellow before/when they released the S5 or at least before you bought your S5?
Do you remember if that color was still available when you made your watch purchase?

It had long since sold out by the time the S5 came out. They did officially discontinue it when they brought out the S5 and all the fall bands, but the canary yellow had been impossible to find for at least a month before that (I kept checking as a way to tell myself that I hadn't made a mistake buying it "early").

All of those bright summer bands were sold out by the beginning of August, if not earlier, a month or so before the S5 was officially introduced. Here it the macrumors page on the watch bands in case you want to look at the timeline for yourself.

The likelihood is that whatever band you want will still be available over the summer, at least until early July. But if you are planning to wait and get it along with an S6, I think that probably won't work - at least I wouldn't count on it.

Sport bands for me, I have the link and a couple of leather loops but while in lockdown sport bands seem to suit me more as I can change the colour every day and at least that feels a bit different.

Orange for me today, it's an old band but a good one.

You were right!

The sport band color I wanted wasn’t available anymore (only the sport loop, which I don’t want).
I ended up ordering it on Amazon just like you. Now, I’m just hoping Apple doesn’t change their watch band connection design for their S6 or S7.

Thanks again for your help!

Can I ask which color? It does seem a little early in the season for things to be selling out, but I'm glad you got it. At least that will be one less thing to worry about. I don't think they would change the band connector - they didn't even do that when they made the screens bigger with the S4. Too many people have invested too much money in bands. At least I hope they see it that way...

Alaskan Blue Sport Band

When I chatted with their website sales support representative, they said it was no longer available (or at least not available at the time I asked). 🤷‍♂️

I have a handful of sport loops that I used to use, but now for the past three months I have been using this Richard Tracy “Hammer” band. I also have it in red and camo. I love it because it’s wide, cleans/dries fast and it’s comfortable.

I’ve been through all of the Apple official styles and always go back to the sports band. 98% of the time wearing the white one. One point I had the Link, Milanese and about 30 colors of sports band and 5 of the sport loop. Sold em all off but 5 sports bands. White, black, fog, product red and midnight blue.

Yep, when I bought my watch, I got it with the Alaskan blue sport band. I was just wearing it today, in fact!

When was it released? Last fall when the S5 was released?
That’s my only guess why it isn’t in stock now, and they’re promoting the newer colors.

Yes, they discontinued all the bright summer colors and came out with the darker fall/winter colors when they released the S5. I was kind of surprised that they kept it when they came out with the new bands a month or so ago. It is a nice color. I got the lighter colored aluminum watch and I think the band goes really well with that.

I currently have a Milanese Loop on my series 3 and a sport loop on my Apple Watch Edition. The reason I have the sport loop on my Edition is due to the white band turning a yellow colour.

I prefer the Milanese as it holds up much better over time (Minus a few scratches on the buckle etc)
