Nope, everything died. I've tried many different things.

Oddly enough, I had two IIsis at the time (first one and aunt's) and a Quadra 950... all died at the same time.

Perhaps it was a b0rked out surge strip that didn't do its job.

Quadra... what a wonderful name. Why don't we call the next generation Power Mac "Quadra 5." :D

Not too bad if the battery is in a holder. Somewhat more difficult if it's soldered in to the Mobo. I've got an SE with a soldered-in battery (though I can claim soldering as a personal skill).

And first, catch your replacement battery! If you buy it as an 'Apple component' the price here in the UK can be high. If you look for it as a generic battery the component shops only stock them if they shift xx units per month.

Some years ago, I was talking to a battery salesman who was trying to pursuade us to incorporate Li battery technology in our (then) current project instead of the (then) traditional NiCad. He kept emphasising that Li was a 'Hi-energy technology'. Then it came out in conversation that the battery company's development labs had burned down! 'Well, I did tell you that Li is a hi-energy technology!'!

Came within minutes of buying one, 'cept the store had some crappy support policies, and a salesguy with other people didn't know squat regarding a different Mac model. (The local Apple-only store salespeople were rather snide towards non-business folk.)

Had an A2e and wanted my first Mac to be portable, so I could watch TV whilst HyperCarding and whatnot. And the batteries could last over 10 hours.

Maybe they'll bring it back -- for old times sake?
