Out of the blue I received a notification today that my iPad has access to Facetime.

Thing is, it's had access to Facetime for years so I'm wondering why all of a sudden this message has appeared.

I checked my devices in Settings / icloud and can't see any additional devices being added.

So why would I have received this notification out of the blue?

My concern is my icloud email account seemed to have been hacked last week as I received a phishing email. I promptly changed my password across all my accounts.

Have you not used your iPad in some time? I have an old MacBook that I turn on occasionally, and every time I get a notification on my devices saying that a ‘new’ MacBook has been added to FaceTime and iMessage.

I believe it is normal if you go some time without using a device (and having it switched on).

Thanks guys.

The ipad is used daily. And nope, didn't reenter the password.

I did though 2 days ago change the password. But can there be this much of a delay to get this notification?

This could be caused by an iOS, or iPadOS upgrade.
Unfortunately not on this occasion as I'd updated it quite a while back.

Gotta say, I'm totally baffled and a touch worried due to the dodgy email I received a few days ago.

I did though double check all my signed in devices and they do ring true.

I've had this happen too for various devices. It even told me that my Apple Watch now has access to iMessage, for no reason at all.
