Just curious what everyone is waiting for as far as their next device?

Pixel 3? Galaxy s 10? Lg v40? OnePlus 6t? iPhone?

The lineup this year has not really been upgrade worthy for me. I mean I'm still thinking and looking and there may be an impulse buy but seems like it might be a skip season. I'm curious on the 6t and the new pixels.

What about you all?

Even though I like the Note 9, I've been uninspired to upgrade to it from my S9+.

Same goes for upgrading my 8+ to Xs Max. Just doesn't seem worth it.

But I'm excited for what I've been hearing about the S10 so far, which I will definitely pre-order.

I’m on the fence. I’ve been android for quite a few years and am looking at the iPhone XR, but I’m also intrigued by the Note 9 and upcoming pixel 3. I’m due for an upgrade in October, but I plan on waiting on until Black Friday to see what the deals are.

Currently have the amazing Pixel 2 XL, so sort of looking at the Pixel 3 XL MAYBE, and for sure curious about the OnePlus 6T, ( I'm T-Mobile subscriber, so that helps ) and that's about it, nothing really came out this year that's good. The new iPhone's suck again, and the Galaxy line with Lagwiz and their locked bootloaders, and duplicate apps are never an option. Only two phones that matter this year, the 3 XL and 6T, the rest are throw aways.

Nothing. I’m sulking.

I was super happy with my Max. But I’m starting to get headaches from the display. I thought I wouldn’t be having that problem. I can’t see the flicker the way I could on my X. It was all going well this week. I could not read ebooks on this phone but I could live with that. I still have my 8 Plus. As long as I can post here and do my emails and watch videos and look at and take photos, it’s good. I’m not super picky. And the display is gorgeous. Ugh. Really gorgeous.

I was having some problems this morning but chalked that up to well...the morning. I set the phone on the charger since I didn’t charge it last night. Picked up and used my 8 Plus and felt fine. Later got my Max off the charger and when I try to use it after shorter and shorter intervals it feels like someone is stepping on the bridge of my nose. Like a sinus headache. I stop looking at the display and it fades. :( I went out to dinner and couldn’t even check my notifications from the teacher my daughter is working with. The pain just was going to ruin my appetite.

The disappointment is pretty bad. I’m a lady who appreciates how pretty this gold phone is. I got the watch to match—I love the watch so far! I got a nice affordable case to match. I’m thinking this might all have to go back. Reception is a bit iffy, too, on LTE. But we’re having issues in our area anyway so hard to decide anything about that right now.

It’s the damned pwm flicker. I haven’t even gone over to that part of the forum. I want to make sure about this. Poop. Poop. Poop. :(

I’m very happy and content with my S9+ for the Android side of things. My husband’s P20 Pro camera does eat the Max’s and even my Pixel’s cameras for lunch. It’s a really incredible phone especially for the money. But I’m not interested in it.

iOS is where I decided I wanted to invest. It’s got the wearables for a petite woman to enjoy. It’s got iMessage and yes, Apple Maps, which work great where I live. On paper the Max is exactly what I could have hoped for. In hand it also sort of is. I’m a bit puzzled about the connection issues but I think Apple and AT&T will get that sorted. Not worried. It’s my stupid migraine sensitivity and however they’re tuning this display not playing nice. Sigh.

Anyway I’m just weirdly happy with my S9+. When I call my dad from it he says “Oh good you’re calling from a real phone this time.” He thought my Max sounded like crap. It doesn’t really. I just got a bad connection on the Max calling my dad from home. My husband and I heard each other over a better connection when we were at a mall and our Maxes sounded fine. I guess I’ll have to do WiFi calling for my dad. I’ll test that on the Max tomorrow.

I’m posting from the Max now. It hurts but I’m being stubborn.

Well, I might upgrade my S8+ to an S9+ or a Note 9 if there’s a good deal (far more likely for the S9+), but also the possible in-screen FPS could lure me over to the S10. However, my main SIM is still in an iPhone 8, which I unfortunately need to troubleshoot to determine if there’s a software issue or if the hardware (particularly storage in this case) is broken. It’s the Apple Watch that’s keeping my main SIM in the iPhone. If I could spot an equally good or better watch, I might switch to the S8+ as my primary device. There’s also a slight possibility that I might be interested in the Xr, but I’m not sure I want to go FaceID only.

Stop kidding yourself and return the iPhone. Get the Xr if you must have an iPhone.

For Android, there’s nothing interesting to me after the Poco F1. The rest are a bunch of overpriced iPhone wannabees.
Pixel 3? Just another overpriced notched SD845 phone, which the Poco already offer for less than half the price.

Hopefully they can fix them with a software update. I’m not sure at the moment if I’m having any issues as I’ve only taken one call on there and it cut out. WiFi download speeds have fluctuated but have all been above 100 mbps at home so not something that I’d notice in comparison to my X which seemed to always get about 200. LTE I really need to get out and test.

Honestly don’t know what my next phone will be. I wouldn’t rule out the S10 or note 10 as I always seem to get a Samsung phone these past few years even if I only have it for a few months.

I love my Max but I am gonna straight out say it.
I want a yellow XR.
It looks fun. The XS is boring.

Anything to make an iPhone less ordinary is good for me, so I may have to look into them when they're nearing launch!

Always got my eye on the Pixel 3, but having just used a Pixel 1 with 'P' on it for the last few months, I don't feel like it would be giving me anything more than that did other than squeezable sides and a better camera.
But I am enjoying iOS currently.

I wouldn’t swap for the Xr but the coral one looks nice.

Pixel 4 or 5, likely in XL size. Hopefully by then the notch will no longer be a "thing"...

iPhone XR or OnePlus 6T

Hopefully by the 17th I’ll make my decision to wake up at 2:45am on the 19th or not. ;):D

I’m swapping for the XR. Not happily. My WiFi signal was fluctuating at one point inside the house based on me tilting the phone. Jeepers. I’ve never seen poop like that before.

Mostly though I’m having issues with the display. I just compared it to the OLED on my husband’s Huawei P20 Pro and there’s a definite unfavorable to the Max difference. The Max is stunning but I’m talking about an effect I can feel. I feel like some weirdo hypochondriac even talking about it. But it is what it is.

So I’m going to pack everything up for a return. With the money back I’ll try the XR. I don’t know what color. Coral or yellow. I like blue, too. But I want something I have never seen or owned before. If there’s issues with the XR I’ll return it and stay with what I’ve got. Product Red 8 Plus is staying put. It’s got an extended warranty and was an extra phone bought purely because I wanted one of the old form factor phones to keep, so it was never part of any plans to upgrade.

I did see the leaks about the S10 and it looks really exciting. But there is much to be said for the unwaveringly dependable quality my S9+ has given me as a phone and a camera and overall computer.

I would really like to try the HK dual physical sim Max to replace my back-up S8+ to my S9+ but the prices are shocking and with and with iffy warranty and notch  and now possible power/charging glitch I'm not so sure

I suppose I could trade in my S8+ for the Note 9 having in built Dex and a pen to play with :)

Else

S10+ seems to far away :D

At one time I had an interest in the Red Hydrogen One. Boy the news on that phone isn’t good. I’ve lost track of what delay we are on now. What a shame.

I’m not so sure I’m going to try any more crazy displays. The pwm on the Max primed me for some nasty migraine related issues at the grocery where the lighting is harsh.

Mate 20 Pro sounds amazing.

I've heard ramblings of a Razer phone 2 in the works as well.

Is anyone else getting phone burnout? I mean between the lackluster updates, pointless miniscule refinements and constant churning out basically the same thing over and over again with higher prices (planned obsolescence).

I mean the market is just completely oversaturated right now with nothing new.

In the pipeline:
10gb of ram?
5g?
Notchless displays?
In display fingerprint scanner?
Folding displays?
Adjustable background blur?
1200 dollar devices?
4+ cameras?

Pffft :rolleyes::(

Not sure where phones can go from here...

I’m burned out on the idea of buying any, but reading about them always interests me.
