*For the "lotta dough" you can get more than ten songs for $9.99, if you play your cards right!

Christ I need to cut down. Especially as I now don't have a cassette player in my new car and I'm finding that burning Protected AAC in Toast is a pain the arse if you want to be able to display track names on your ICE CD player (does anyone know how to get track names on to an iTunes-generated AIFF audio CD?)

72 songs, 4:47:02 total time, 286.7 MB.

though i still have quite a few free songs on itunes so the total will increase a lot in the next few days

I try to avoid iTMS as well because of the 128 kbps thing. I spent some money on headphones, but, of course, its only worth it listening to high quality music. But I play the guitar, and sometimes you can't beat the convenience of iTMS when you wish you had this one track.

Aren't iTunes .99 cents? You guys with over one thousand songs sure have alot of extra dough.

Ha, are you kidding? Think about the people with music collections of 100, 500, even 1000+ CD's. And each one at an average of $10-12.

764 items, 2.2 days, 3.19 GB (from four accounts). As you can imagine I'm not that much of an audiophile, my pickyness extends more to video quality. And I don't really need the extra clutter from more CDs when I only listen on the computer anyway...

of course, this hardly equates to $713. I buy albums much more frequently than I buy individual songs. For me, $9.99 for an album of 13-16 songs is a bargain.

Plus, the ability to purchase the new Wilco, Beck or Decemberists album first thing in the morning on release day and listen to it on the way to work is WELL worth the "low" bitrate and DRM "restrictions."

I don't like the low bitrate (DRM doesn't bother me at all), but I'm willing to put up with it till I buy the actual CD. I tend to download a song or two from an album, see how I like it, and then go to the local record store and buy the actual cd. I like supporting local businesses and I like having the actual CD to listen to in my car.

154 songs, 10.2 hrs, 657.3 MB. Didn't even pay for all of those...some are free tunes, gift cards, promotions, ect.

I have 6362 songs in my library. Some legal, most not ;)
