Come to think of it. We shouldn't have to guess. Someone in Appleland will know the answer to this. Have you tried contacting tech support?

Haha...I'm not even gonna tell you what I do in a month. You might fall out of your chair.

wow you may have abandonment issues anxiety/OCD

they are just messages man, take a screengrab of the good/funny ones and just delete the rest

Only if you jailbreak it. Which is silly. Apple should come up with some sort of an iPhone hub application. We need to clear out iTunes, it's getting bloated.

Just curious, where did you get 80,000?

I love how people keep saying that the only way to do something is jailbreak. This is not true, there are various apps out there that allow you to back up texts/notes/contacts, etc. outside of iTunes. I just got to work so I don't have time to look stuff up right now, but a little Goggling never hurt anyone.

98.1MB free isn't very much. Did you try freeing up a little more space in case Apple has set a limit on how low you can go? It mean it would make sense to reserve at least 100MB. But then it is possible this reservation doesn't show up as free space anyway. Worth a try…

Yeah I tried deleting some of my bigger apps on the phone, but it made no difference. Grr.

I think I'm going to do that as a last resort if the restore doesn't work.

Please tell.. puhleeaaaase :p

Haha. On a talkative month, I do ~16,000 texts.

I have ADD if that means anything. :p
I'm looking forward to 3.0 and being able to delete individual texts.

How/why would anyone build up text messages to the point of prompting that message on an iPhone. Thats insane. I haven't seen a message like that since my old LG flipmaster3000 that capped my inbox at 99 messages.

Now I delete SMS conversations on regular basis. Couldn't care less about them. They are either nonsense, oldnews, or something i've already copied due to its importance.

Plus is lags as it fills up, and who needs that?

I also do roughly 14,000-18,000 on a talkative month. My average is close to 15,500 for the past 5 months since I got my iPhone. Even on my old LG phone I got close to 10,000 a month.

Seriously? How? I'm going to presume that's total (sent and received), but that's still over 1 text read or written for every 2 mninutes, for 16 hours every day. Surely you can't do anything but text?

I can get multiple (4-5) texts per minute from 3-4 different people.

Hahah I'm pretty sure that needs to be added to the DSM-V.

Also, does ":)" and "haha" and "k" in a row count as 3 text messages? I'm pretty sure it's impossible for this to be full phrases/sentences ...

Correct. Usually when someone sends me a text with just a "haha" or "k", I won't reply. Who wants to talk to a boring person like that. My friends and I carry on lengthy conversations via texting. A normal day- I wake up with two or three texts on my phone. I reply. The person/persons and I talk until one of us has to do something. If it's one of my bestfriends/significant other, we will talk all day. Sunrise to sunset.

And YES, I do have a life. I just have to stop and text every few minutes. :p
I feel bad for my friends who don't have qwerty keyboards on their phones though...

Not to get to far off topic. It is funny you mention this. I review job applications and you would be amazed at how many people use text lingo on their applications. I don't think you are to far off with that statement.... I am not saying all. Really seeing it with the 19-22 year olds. It is sad actually.

To the op..... you might want to erase all of your messages and see what happens.

It really is . . . I studied history in undergrad and I get very sad thinking about all the beautiful old correspondence I got to read from the 19th and early 20th century and how in 200 years our culture will be remembered by LOL's and TTYL aight - why the need to abbreviate alright? I will never understand.
