Your spam to helpful post ratio

Does Spam = meaningful conversation? ...or responses to threads?

If so, I'm probably 1,964:2

I've put up a couple of helpful responses. But, mostly people here are more qualified than I am to respond. Something better usually comes along in the next few posts or so. 😛 😀

As long as the spam is on topic, insightful, and answers that nagging question they leave in their thread title.

Most people tiptoe around answering the thread title, but when you see a thread title like "I crashed my mini" all you can think of is the bad run edesignuk had with his Mini. 😱

Except his MINI is no more-- it's now his S2000. 😛
 
I'd say mines about 100 spam : 1 helpful post.

I help when I can, but I don't know much stuff™ being a relative n00b to Macs. Of course I've picked up a few of the usual helpful hints but they've normally already been posted by the time I see the thread. 😱

So yeah, iSpam 😱
 
I have my days when i try to be a MadJew...then i try my hand at a DoctorQ but i always fail at that one. Now i'm confortable at my ~Shard~ DMW007 stage..

Also i like to ralley the boys in the game section🙂

I'd put my ratio at about 50:1. Useless vs. usefull. I mainly just come here to hang out with all you nice people. Its fun getting to know people from all over. And besides, I rarely see a question or topic of discussion that I feel expert enough in to bother with a helpful responce.
 
I think my posts as 1 part helpful, 3 parts spam and 2 parts pushing my humble opinion upon others... 😉

Edit: and yes, most of my posts are nonsense. I like to think I help when I can, but it's a lot less often than I feel the need to stick my oar in everything else. 😱
 
I've just taken a quick look back through my recent posts and I don't think I do too badly... about one in six or seven posts is what I'd deem 'helpfulish', basically answering a question or offering advice – be it on a Mac matter or a personal problem, or answering a question that came up as the result of one of my previous posts. Of course, it's a matter of opinion as to whether or not anyone actually finds my answers 'helpful' or not. 😀

Most of the others are what I'd call 'community' posts where we're discussing stuff, like on the Doctor Who thread or one of the football discussions, for example, where I do have a tendency to blather on a bit. 😱

Perhaps we should be measuring our spam-to-total-post ratios or our helpful-to-total-post ratios rather than our spam-to-helpful ratios.

Well, when I first joined, all I did was read and post like once every few months, if at all. Now, I visit and post daily. So, I guess that's a change. 🙂 As for quality, I try not to spam because spammers just annoy me. 😛

On the public forums, I think I'm about 1/3 spam, 1/3 helpful, and 1/3 in between (so, I guess, about a 1:1 spam:helpful ratio). On the other forums, I'm 4/3 spam.
