Yes, I was glad to see that too! :)

LOL :p Well...no, but they could have conveniently "overlooked" the inquiry. Seeing their response has made me a little less worried. If Opera developers were the kind of people who wanted to "load up the browser with spyware", they certainly wouldn't have to wait until the sale goes through to do it. They would have done it ages ago and they wouldn't have gained the positive, hard-working reputation they have if they were that type.
Perhaps you are missing the point. It isn't that the Opera developers would WANT to add spyware but their new owners would want to. If that is their (the new owners) intention, they won't tell you and you won't find out until/unless someone discovers it. I'm not xenophobic, but China and Russia have EARNED their reputations for the shady things they are accused of.

Yes, I understand...and if I worked for an illegal organization or was performing crimes on my computer, I would probably be worried about what you said. However, I'm not, so I can free my mind of being "spied" on by Russia and China (or any country for that matter) - they would be bored out of their minds! LOL I just wanted a good, safe, secure browser to protect me as a regular citizen from hackers, spammers, trojans, malware, viruses, annoying tracking ads, etc. I found all of this in Opera...and I hope it continues to perform the same when/if it's sold.

LOL You think that "good, safe, and secure" is possible while "being spied on"? What exactly do you think they'd be spying? The product pages on Amazon you visit? Spying includes banking and credit card information. It includes personal contact information for your contacts. Anything and everything you type into your browser will be captured if spying is going on.

Yep...as with all the major browsers being "spied" on is always a risk. Guess Opera is the lesser of all evils it seems. I like the security features it offers and it blocks tracking ads and malware better than any other browser that I've tested with various sites and software. *shrugs* It is what it is...I just hope it stays that way.
