VLC - play anything!
iTunes - duh
Firefox - I use the beta 2.0, it's working great as an everyday browser
Mactheripper/DVD2one/Toast - 3 steps to perfect DVD copies
Mail - I miss this the most when I'm in XP

well I don't think any of my apps have gone out and killed.
Sometimes photoshop gets a little depressed and attempts suicide, but that's not really killing now is it?
Although maybe Quark has killed, I mean I have no proof, but I just don't trust that guy...😉

In no particular order, and I have to cheat:

1. WriteRoom and/or Ulysses and/or TextMate, though WriteRoom doesn't quite like dual monitor setups...
2. Delicious Library
3. Growl
4. CoverFlow and/or MenuTunes
5. Apple's built-in systemwide services (Spell Checking, Dictionary, etc, etc, etc) there's nothing really quite as exquisite.

EDIT: I'm not sure how people can label Firefox as a Macintosh killer app as it's available on almost any platform. If a person were to list Firefox, I'd think Camino would be a better fit as it fits into OS X's mold much, much, much better, being that it's Cocoa.

1) Transmit (FTP)
2) Adium
3) TextWrangler
5) Growl

(A LOT of mentions for Adium....proof positive, eh?)

  1. Azureus - bittorrent
  2. Quicksilver - app launcher
  3. FFmpegX - video encoding
  4. Mac The Ripper - dvd ripper
  5. VLC - plays anything

I suddenly have a new one.

MacBook SMC Firmware Update 1.0 😀

EDIT:
All those seem to be really popular on these lists, and all of them are multi-platform. The point of this thread is just to say which 5 apps you like/use the most. I don't think they need to be mac-specific.

I understand the point of the thread; I wasn't criticizing anyone about Firefox. Heck, I listed some cross-platform apps. My point was specific toward Firefox, though. The products you listed either are Cocoa-enabled or have no Cocoa alternatives. iTunes and Photoshop, being that they began on the Mac platform and, in some ways, offer a higher standard of usability apart from their Windows counterparts, are exempt.

Firefox, though, is cross-platform and poorly executed on OS X, while Camino takes advantage of all that makes OS X special.

This is almost my identical set.

(Finally, another Smultron-lover!!!)

I love Smultron! When I first got my Mac, I used jEdit, but it sucked pretty bad. It was slow, and just wasn't very intuitive. Smultron, on the other hand, is what all Mac applications should strive to be.

Firefox: Because Internet Explorer and Safari don't cut it.

Fire: Because iChat doesn't have MSN and AIM support.

Azureus: Torrents are good. 🙂.

Quicktime: Because I have 50GB of music on my Windows computer accessed through an FTP, Firefox, and the Quicktime plugins.

Snood: Because it's Snood.

Won't list Adium since this has been mentioned a gazillion times by now... 😉

Cyberduck in conjunction with...
subEthaEdit for the great work flow when coding PHP websites
iTunes Honestly, now that I finally let it control my music folder, it unfolds all of its power
CocoModX The best Amiga MOD player out there, only topped by DeliPlayer (which is PC only)

I am tempted to also putting Quicksilver in the list, but I only tested it since yesterday... great app so far, though. 😎

Does anybody have a suggestion for a decent CVS client for OS X?

I currently just use the CLI, but it would be nice to have a GUI for it. 🙂
