Hook line and sinker. The WSJ and NYT reports are controlled leaks. Jobs tells one person to call their buddy in the WSJ and says that it is a hardware problem and he knew about it before release. He then tells another person to call his NYT buddy and says it's software and he didn't know about it before it shipped. The result? The rumor sites explode in a frenzy all hyped up and at their edge of their seats in curiosity of what Apple is going to say at the press conference at 10 am PDT. We just got manipulated again by Jobs brilliant mind/RDF. :eek:

I hope Apple announces the new Mac Mini or iPod Touch tomorrow and ignores this non-story about the fake antenna problem. The only people making noise about this are anti-Apple fanbots who don't own and will never own an Apple product. Apple owes scum like you NOTHING.

I wouldnt be surprised if the second leak was intentional, but it may have been to counter the first one

You can call me an Apple fanboy to the max, but I indeed have (had) the antenna issue was well. I could easily get my phone to display "No signal" after a minute of holding it in my left hand. But after the software 4.0.1, I can't replicate it anymore, so that's good news for me at least.

But no, the antenna issue is real, and I'm the biggest Apple fanboy ever......so yeah.

What you are missing is that if they are controlled leaks (which they likely are), then they are true.

Apple wouldn't leak that there's a software fix, if there isn't.

If a software fix is possible, then it's worthy of the "hype".

I was being mostly sarcastic in my post. Though I do agree with you that they are most likely( at least the NYT story is) controlled leaks.
 
I think the NYT one may have been a controlled leak to draw attention away from the WSJ leak, still good news though, as arn said they wouldnt leak something that wasnt true.

Ehhh, all will be clear in less than 12 hours.

Now where's my cookie? And btw I would not advise buying any Apple (APPL) until the press conference as it is unknown what path it will take. A recall could cost over a billion and damage their reputation, free bumpers would be cheap ($1 per) and lessen the buzz. In the longer term is a great buy, this will pass over (major corps. have screwed up before) and Apple has $40 billion in cash.
