So this morning I woke and grabbed my phone, opened up YouTube and noticed when I started playing a video on MKBHD's YouTube channel that it gives me the option to play in 1440p (2560x1440p). Is anyone else seeing this? I am on a iPhonk 6 Plus on IOS 9.2.1 Beta 2 (13D14). It appears to work for any video that has been uploaded in 4K or 1440p.

Yeah that doesn't make any sense, neither the hardware or underlying software reach that resolution. The actual display is 1080p but even the higher native resolution isn't 1440p, it would be "1242p"

Playing videos in 1440p instead of 1080p on a 1080p display can have a small difference because YouTube videos are super compressed. Slightly better detail.

It doesn't pay to play a video on any resolution other than what's native for your display. It's not going to be any higher resolution that what your screen supports.

That is true but the higher bit rate might.
