Google does this on purpose. It’s not like they don’t have the resources.

Blizzard game developers are notorious for this. I wanted to play hearthstone on my iPhone X, but I couldn’t for nearly a year because it wasn’t optimised. And when did it get optimised? Day and date of apples mandatory requirement.

They have no excuse and it’s a poor practice. I am so happy that apple forces the developer to do this otherwise, even these multi-billion dollar companies will just not bother.

Yea, Google is always terrible in this area. Apple needs to make this stuff mandatory when pushing any app update.

YouTube, along with Directv Now, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video need to update their respective apps for at least the 11" IPP. As the OP mentioned, Netflix was the only company on the ball with updating their app to fit the new IPP screen. The new screen real estate is wasted until these companies update their respective apps.

Same goes for Facebook. They are crazy slow in updating their apps, which is so ridiculous given this is their primary product and all their resources! I’m bombrding every app developer with feedback emails since two weeks, if I see an app that’s not updated! It has already helped in one case, they even gave me beta access.

It's worth noting that it STARTS March 2019... any app already in the app store will be allowed to remain in the store after that date.... but any updates submitted AFTER March 2019 must comply. That means it can be much longer than March 2019 before some of those apps are updated.

The app isn't the product. The users are the product. As long as the users are uploading stuff and sharing their lives on the network Facebook doesn't freaking care about an iPad app.

What I meant was that the User Interface is what they need to have their business running. It's not like retail company with stores that ALSO have an iPad app, but UI design is one of their core skills.

Funny- I sent an email to amazon yesterday about their app- today an actual service employee called me!! To ask about what exactly I need to be updated in the app. That’s customer service that’s unheard of with many companies like Facebook! Crazy, I was so stunned!

Well, Amazon is basically a store where you spend money, while soemnting like Facebook is a free social network service, there's a difference.

Sure, but that's quite different than actual money that is paid to Amazon.

Right. Still I believe that the reasons at play here are different ones, mainly that Facebook doesn’t seem to like apple that much anymore recently, or the fact that fb in general has a terrible customer support, as I first hand experience every second day when my girlfriend who works as a social media director runs into problems with their ad department.
