The other option is to turn off Match Content, or at least Match Dynamic Range. The Youtube app seems to ignore Match Frame Rate.
The black screen is because Match Content causes your Apple TV to switch its output format from the default you have in the "Format" setting to whatever the video content actually is. Most Youtube content is SDR, so it switches the output signal sent to the TV from Dolby Vision to SDR and back to Dolby Vision once you return to the menu. Every time it changes the output format, you get a black screen as the Apple TV reconnects. If you turn off Match Dynamic Range, the Apple TV sends the SDR video as Dolby Vision signal, which could potentially cause some colour/brightness mismatch from the intended image but there is no disruption to the output signal.
I turned off Match Content, personally. I prefer the brighter menus, am content with Apple's SDR to Dolby Vision handling, and without Match Frame Rate, the motion smoothing on 24p movies helps with the OLED stutter. I am not a film purist, and I'm okay with that.
