This was disturbing when I took my iPad out of the bag it was in, and it was quite hot. Apparently YouTube had been draining the battery for the past few hours and since the bag was insulating it, the iPad got hot in there.

Drained from 90% or so to about 3% when I finally got to it, and had to plug it in to use it. Was quite irritating.

Took Google way too long to fix this.

So far, it appears to be fixed. My phone doesn't burn up anymore.

Can they fix my iphone X not charging when I insert my charging cable.... oh wait that's definitely an Apple thing. :( Anyone else with an X have this issue yet?

YouTube should burn in hell and they deserve to get annihilated by a viable competitor.

Their priorities are troubling and disturbing

Advertisers aren’t pulling out for no reason

So? If that is what people search for its more like people r sick in their head than google giving in to censorship

Probably draining from software decoding YouTube videos since Apple neglected to implement royalty free VP9 hardware decoding that even $99 Android devices have.

Either youtube predicts that you are a pervert and adapts the autosuggest for you. For example some people searched for similar things to this, on your (dynamic) IP address. Or you are taking some liberties with the truth and edited that 'screenshot'.

I did not take that screen grab.

MANY people on Twitter have confirmed this. And in news. \

NICE TRY ON BLINDLY DEFENDING A CORPORATION WHILE ALSO CALLING ME A LIAR AND/OR A PERVERT, HOW VERY TOLERANT OF YOU.

next time - Do some research (like, seriously, 2 seconds worth of googling) before attacking and accusing me of things.

It's not Apple's job to implement every random codec that comes along. They could never keep up.

It should be up to Google to serve video in an industry-accepted format. If they want to use VP9 for their own hardware, that's fine.

Everybody but Apple is supporting VP9. So maybe Apple should support an industry accepted format?

Well, they certainly didn't fix the performance of the app. Navigating and finding videos is still a stuttery mess on my iPad Pro 9.7 as always.

You probably have pocket lint or other dirt in the lightning connector slot. I had this problem with my iPhone 5s and had to clean it out fairly regularly. I would think if there was an actual issue with some iPhone Xs not charging we would hear about it.

With popular iOS apps like YouTube, Google have a trojan horse with which to make it seem like the newly released Apple device has poor characteristics, compared to Google's own devices.

Was the battery drain on purpose? </conspiracy>

I checked and do not. plus it's intermittent. One time I'll plug in and it will charge the next it won't. I have had the lint issue with my 5S before though

My guess is hardware. Have to make an appt at some point with an Apple store to get diagnostic tests done but my guess is it won't show anything because it's intermittent.

The app had a background activity similar to Facebook where it plays silent audio to keep the app live. I'm thinking it's a way to track users, but this hasn't been proven.

So, Youtoob finally got their Facebooked version of the app running and then were surprised that people noticed. Whoops, sorry guys. Will try to do better next time.
So, does the app have a worse interface than their excruciating, infuriating web versions? I've never installed it as I trust them less than FacePlant and trump, and Safari at least offers some protections, unless they've managed to root them as well again.

I'm sure it was just an accident.
