youtube KILLS my macbook

ever since youtube redid their page design, it causes my whole browser to crash if i even go to the opening page of the website. however, i can watch embedded youtube videos just fine. but if i go to the website and try to watch something, the picture of the video freezes, the sound continues, and the scrollbar on the right gets frozen.

help.

Try another browser and reinstalling/updating Flash player

for some weird reason, my parents computer, which is the same macbook, and was bought about 6 months prior to mine, has no problem with the new youtube. and has never been updated.
