Does anyone else who used Ziphone's method have an disfunctional youtube app? Whats the solution?
yes this is happened to me also. also my mail does not work what ab yours?
Well I don't access youtube that much on my iphone but crap...not working here for me either. Customize app is also busted, will not launch.
This was on a AT&T activated 1.1.3 iphone...not concerned with unlock, just doing jailbreak as I'd been stock since I went from jailbroken 1.1.2 to vanilla 1.1.3 until something like this came along.
Guess I jumped to soon too! Any fix or restore and wait longer?
I had told myself I'd just wait until the official SDK was released to see how that changed the field but this one looked too easy, especially compared to what I had to do on 1.1.2.....fun fun
Make sure when you do the jailbreak and unlock that you do a regular restore first so that the original software is on the phone before ziphone does its work.
so are you saying that you have everything working mentioned in this thread on 1.1.3?
just asking since you didn't say. not knocking your advice, just asking for clarification......
as mentioned in my first post, the apps installed at the time of jailbreak were all untouched from Apple's 1.1.3 update. I'd attempt a full restore to 1.1.3 and then run ijailbreak 0.5.1 if this worked for you and post back....let me know.
Iphone unlocked with 1.1.2 Week 51
did the ziphone hack on itunes updatet 1.1.3
customize is not longer working
summerboard is just showing a small amount of themes
youtube is still working without problems
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A93 Safari/419.3)
On my first attempt Youtube didn't work. My second attempt Youtube and Edge did not work. I used two different methods, one using XP and the other the Mac. Now back to standard and will probably remain that way. Summerboard worked both times.
How did you get back to standard? I did a restore and my YouTube is still not working.
A full restore in iTunes erases all trace of ZiPhone and returns the iPhone to standard.
This is weird. I have one 1.1.3 iPhone working fine after using Ziphone. Youtube and locate me both work. On the second phone, fresh restore and no backup loaded as recommended above, YouTube still don't work. Any other ideas?
Just adding another voice to the crowd.
I just jailbroke a virgin, brand new 1.1.3 phone just just picked up at an AT&T store. When I activated with iTunes, i was asked to upgrade to 1.1.3 (the phone I got was loaded with 1.1.2)
SO, the phone's never been jailbroken (or unlocked) before.
The jailbrake process was quick and painless. Everything seems to be working except YouTube.
Not a deal-breaker for me, since I rarely use YouTube; hoping someone will figure out a fix.
I did some experimenting, I figured since I have three iPhones, I can experiment all I can till I figure out a work around for the Youtube app not workin with Ziphone. I figured this had to be an activation problem with Ziphone and Youtube.
This time I ran Ziphone as Ziphone -u - j
I left out the -a which activates the iPhone. Now Youtube works with this configuration.
Yep, EVERYTHING is working great. I was surprised myself after spending nights this past weekend trying to jailbreak and unlock using multiple methods. I really wasn't expecting it to work.
I have a 1.1.2 OTB week 50 iPhone which was upgraded to 1.1.3 via iTunes when I ran the command line version of ziphone. I've got Installer 3.0 working as well as Summerboard. Some Summerboard themes don't work. Programs like Merriam Dictionary don't work. They'll download, but they don't show up. But most of the program have worked for me so far (calculators, chess, convertor, NES emulator, the towers game).
Make sure that when you dock the iPhone, press the home button while placing the phone in the dock (iTunes already open). Then release the button. Once releasing the button, iTunes should recognize your iPhone and your iPhone should be in recovery mode.
Then just run ziphone. For the sake of completion I'll post up what I did.
This is the Windows Method:
Start Menu -> cmd
ziphone -j for jailbreak and
ziphone -u for unlock(I haven't tested unlock yet. Still not sure if I'll unlock this, give it to the wife who is on T-Mobile, buy myself the 16GB model or wait for the 3G phone and get my wife some jewelry for Valentine's Day)
Let it work its magic. I'm not sure how long it took. I went and took a shower when I initiated the jailbreak. When I came back, everything was done.
I'll give that a try now and let you know how I get on.
Do not try my suggestion. Leaving off the -a command will leave iTunes giving you a message that something is wrong with the iPhone and that it can't be activated. It won't be able to sync either.
I also tried 2.0 of this program with the interface and it just freezes on two different computers stating that it's searching for iPhone.
That's not so good then. I assume you've managed to restore the phone back to 1.1.3 then?
What if you activate the restored handset in iTunes prior to running ZiPhone?
My jailbreak with Ziphone 2.0 failed, the screen froze on the Apple logo and the 'waiting' message was on the program screen.
I put the iPhone back into restore mode and have returned it to the official 1.1.3 firmware from iTunes. I reckon I'll leave it there and await the SDK.
If you were just trying to jailbreak, use the original command prompt version. Just as easy, but you put your phone into recovery mode, so it works...
I'd used that version last night but Youtube would not work, I was hoping v2 may have solved this problem but from reading comments here and elsewhere online it would appear not.
Yeah, it doesn't fix Youtube at all.
As I mentioned elsewhere, I have two 1.1.3 iPhones. One was 1.1.2 upgraded to 1.1.3. The other is 1.1.3 OTB. The 1.1.2 upgraded to 1.1.3 has Youtube working perfectly, just the 1.1.3 OTB doesn't. I gave up on this one and restored back to unhacked 1.1.3. I wish I could get both jailbroken perfectly instead of one.
My iPhone is a UK 1.1.2 OTB upgraded to 1.1.3 but I cannot get Youtube to work at all with any of the existing Ziphone versions. I've decided to give up and await the SDK. It was never crucial for me to use the extra apps so I'm not disappointed.
That's weird. YouTube is working for me with jailbroken and unlocked. The only thing that doesn't work with the unlock is the map locator.
Install Navizon and run it once, then remove it if you like. Map locator will now work.
Ziphone worked for me expect mail
I just tried the ziphone 2 and it worked except for my mail that keeps crashing anything i open it, i have tried a lot of the mail apps in intaller apps but none working right now but Youtube works fine but not on T-Zone, location works perfect in maps, i didn't have to install navigation or anything. What i did was i connect my iphone to the computer and restored my otb1.1.1 jailbreak nates version with itunes. So i didn't use the ctrl restore, i just did an itune original irestore, so ended up with 1.1.3 with 4.3 baseband and 3.9 bootloader since it didn't upgrade the bootloader, then i run ziphone version 2 but remember, check everything expect for 3.9ieraser. The first time i tried onu check unlock and activate and it got stuck on the searching for iphone with the apple log on your screen so please check everything on.
If you have done that already or about to try it please let me know if you have problems with you mail crashing.
I had the same problem at first, the solution is check all the boxes expect for the 3.9ieraser and it will work like charm. the only problem i have with mine is my mail keeps crashing but everything else works fine
FYI: all the ppl saying they are waiting for SDK remember its not going to be free
