YouTube music should offer lossless audio. Still better audio quality than Spotify which is why I don't subscribe and there playlists stations are excellent compared to Apple Music.

Price is only one aspect of the purchase. Does the purchase meet one’s wants and or needs. For me $2 a month for YouTube will fail. However $800 for an iPhone fits nicely. The old saying one man’s junk another’s treasure. All in perspective.

Definitely not cheap and nearly everything listed is possible for free with browser plugins. I cannot imagine there’s a huge market for this type of service.
there is in terms of caring about creators you frequently watch getting fairly compensated for their work—Premium views net them more money than ad revenue does. I have a ton of YTers I watch regularly (who typically do videos ranging from 20-60+ min) and this is a huge part of why I stay subscribed.

You get to watch videos instead of wasting time and rotting your brain with commercials. Yes, maybe you can adblock your way out of youTube on a desktop browser, but what about mobile, or iPad? On your TV's OS youTube app? Or on Apple TV? If you have kids, you also get to know that they're not constantly peppered with garbage ads while watching Peppa Pig.
I use my TV as a third monitor of my notebook just for watching videos. So I do not need a TV app. I do not watch videos on my phone. It is just too small, although my phone is larger than an iPhone 14 Pro Max.

If YouTube finds a way to show me ads anyway, I will stop watching YouTube. I enjoy a lot of videos on YouTube, but ads would be a red line for me.

I am already watching more YouTube than streaming. I am guessing that with the recent Hollywood shutdown, more people might turn to YouTube for entertainment as scripted content dries up. This would be an opportunity to capitalise on the increase in demand for their content.

I'll likely never pay for Youtube. ANd if they force it. I guess that puts an end to my Youtube consumption. Youtube has never been a service I valued enough to pay for. ANd never will. Unless by some miracle they reverse on Privacy policy and start caring about the actual streaming quality both video and audio.

Just buy it via a VPN, I'm in the UK and use YT premium with a UK debit card via Turkey, works just fine and only costs me about £2 a month, started my subscription in Oct 2022, still works just fine.

They're eventually going to require an in-country card, like they do for the Philippines, to stop this. In-country payments is a much stronger means of enforcing geoblocking than trying to stop VPNs.

It seems like just maybe 6 months ago they had a large price hike, the family plan went from something like 17.99 to 24$...if this is just going to be hiking up to cable prices all over again like most services are leading to, and then they'll eventually throw forced ads back in them...it will sadly become time to find somewhere else to watch the middle aged world of internet users uniting together. We'll still probably be stuck having to use YouTube in order to figure out how to fix your broken coolant pump in a random 2xxx Honda civic or the like though. Seriously, google DOES NOT need MORE of our money. We are poor (,mostly) they are monopoly and used to be the good guys. Not anymore.

In Switzerland, the price of youtube premium is already ridiculousy high its 15,90 CHF - which means 18.34$ US for a month!
i know many people think there are only rich people living in Switzerland, sadly they are wrong.
Many people i know can simply not afford another subscription or streaming service.

Wow, that's expensive! I pay less than $1,50 USD for YouTube Premium here in Argentina, and that also includes YT Music.

Do they have an annual payment for the family plan? Because that's what I want. It's absolutely worth it if you watch a lot of Youtube, and boy do we do that in my family.

I spend way too much time on YouTube. I don't use it wisely either. Just watch a load of blather that feeds into what I already believe or know. I took this opportunity to cancel and see if I can wean myself off it.

When did you last renew? Since around March/April of 2023 YouTube requires the usage of a payment method of the country that you supposedly live in.

So, unless you have a philippine credit card, this trick won’t work anymore.
Hey, I checked and last time i was charged was on June 28th so it definitely still works. Only paying $3.91 CAD for premium currently

It is mind-boggling how cruel and greedy YouTube and Netflix are with their recent price hikes. My only wish is that all the current subscribers living in volatile economies, such as America and Australia, take a stand for themselves and unsubscribe.
I agree but someone has to pay for LTT Studios and development HQ, and his cars

YouTube Premium is one of the reasons I got a 1TB phone. Travel often so I have hours of video mixes, twitch streams and educational stuff available offline. I also enjoy that it pre-downloads my recommended feed which can be entertaining when you're without service.

I'd rather have a YT Premium sub and 2TB cloud plan package as I'm paying for both separately and not fully utilizing all the features that comes with them.
