As if i would ever pay for Youtube, install uBlock Origin on a different browser(which comes with a different browser engine), problem solved, Ads are gone and PIP works fine. :D

Yeah, the wonderful world of sideloading, with sideloading on iOS this wouldn't be a problem.

You should thank Apple, isn't that what you exactly want, a wonderful locked-in ecosystem without being able to solve a "problem" by yourself.

I thought I’d imagine this was in the works. And assumed if I hadn’t imagined it, they gave up on it and we’re going to let it die unseen.

I typically respect businesses and their product and let the market do its job of proving it. BUT, this should be standard issue stuff right here. Basic app functionality.

I have YouTube TV and continue to be surprised there's no PIP option for that $65 service.
Good point.

This is what I would like to see for YouTube TV. First off let me say, YouTube TV is one of the best things that ever happened in terms of ‘cutting the cable’. It’s pure bliss being able to stream from any TV in my house, iPad or anywhere on the go. [With the exception of the same repetitive-useless annoying ads, I have no complaints.]

But the picture-in-picture would be something I would use with YouTube TV, specifically while looking at other programs, etc. having my current program minimized above during an ad break.

Just give it to everyone. Sheesh, it is downright silly to gate this of all things. And a few months ago I did a Premium trial and was unsurprisingly disappointed to find out you couldn't even do PIP on my iPad Pro with Premium at the time – all the documentation was just for iOS for a reason. Absolutely nonsense – it's 100% about the ad consumption experience.
Weird. PIP works on my iPad Air.

Make sure you had it turned on it premium settings?

I’ve been testing Safari with Vinegar extension for months now and I can confirm that it works flawlessly. No YouTube ads, PiP, and it's a set it and forget it app.

I wish Apple would challenge this.
They already charge for background audio so you figure it would be a given that they would keep PiP to premium.

Keep in mind there could be technical limitations with putting ads into the feed on top of using the iOS PiP API. And it might be unique to their ad system.

I've been using PiP in the YouTube app for months now and I love it. I happily pay for YouTube Premium, I actually think it would be the last subscription I would cancel, as much as I use it. Probably more hours spent on YouTube than all other services combined for me.

And yet, paying subscribers (me) don’t have PiP anymore. Fix it Google.

Edit: intermittent problem.
same here man, had to use jailbreak tweak to get it absolutely appalling rollouts ever. even worse when microsoft dropped longhorn....
