Hi all.

Last night I started having problems loading YouTube videos on my 4th generation AppleTV. One video would work and then the next one I tried to load would just sit there buffering.

Tonight it has gotten worse and will not play anything after I had watched a few videos this evening.

I know for certain that it is not my internet connection, as all my other devices work and can use YouTube and other services (like Netflix).

I’ve restarted my AppleTV and also deleted the app to reinstall. The process of reinstalling has taken over five minutes at this point and it isn’t even halfway downloaded.

Also, another thing I noticed is if I stream a video from the YouTube app from my iPhone to the AppleTV, it will just sit there and try to buffer. I can stop it and it starts playing immediately on my iPhone.

Everything is up to date. Safe to assume YouTube has screwed something up with the AppleTV? I don’t understand how this would affect the time it takes to download the app from the App Store though...

Anyone else experiencing this?

I’m having the same issue. Netflix is working fine. iOS app works fine. Ad works fine.

It worked earlier today on an Apple TV 4K in another room. Unfortunately I work in 6 hours and don’t want to check if it’s still working.

It seems to me you have a networking issue. Maybe try to restart the router as well.

Youtube and other Google services such as Gmail and Google Drive were having issues last night.

Probably the issue. Force quit the Youtube App and relaunch.

It is not a networking issue. If you read my post, you would see that I pointed out every other aspect of the AppleTV is not behaving in the same way. It is literally only Youtube.

Thank you! I tried looking but couldn’t find anything reporting this. But hopefully that was the case!

Mine is back up and running, too, so it definitely seem as if Google was having issues.

I said so because you also had issues downloading the YouTube app. And that connection is, or at least it should be, to the Apple App Store's servers, not Google's.

Anyway, I'm glad it's working now!
