YouTube stops playing when switching tabs on safari

this doesn't happen with opera or atomic, so I'm wondering if this is supposed to happen. usually when I play a video on utube I want to surf while it plays in the background, but immediately when I switch to a different tab it turns off. I know I can double click on the home button and press play while it's in a different tab, but I don't wanna do that every time I switch back and forth between YouTube.

I think, double press the home button and start playing again is the only possibility to listen to the video while on another tab/app...
Don't know why apple made this so 'complicated'
