This is a big deal. A whole new Fab, Apple must have really committed to a massive Order. My new M2 MacBook Pro will have to last but I look forward to buying a 32” 120hz QD-OLED iMacPro with an M5 Ultra CPU. By the time they start pumping out Apple branded OLED displays.

27-inch 5K has been running off production lines for 8 years since 2014..

The new Apple Studio Display is essentially a rehash of the 8yo tech..nothing new..even not a better backlight design. Rumour says a Pro version is in the baking with specs like:
  • 2000+ mini-LED zones (!!); 1000 nits in HDR
  • perhaps truly 10-bit panel
  • 27 inch; 5120x2880
  • 60Hz; no ProMotion
Now this piece of Samsung news.. Quantum Dot OLED..

Gosh. For people like me looking for upgrade to their displays, seems really not the right time to pull any trigger.

I think a superior experience would be a 34” Dell QD-OLED monitor.

Sadly anything above 27-inch is too large for me. My normal viewing distance is about 60cm.

I think 27-inch 5K (or 2K) hits a sweet spot for me, and my people. UI's won't be too big and won't resort to any non-integral scaling resolutions. 27-inch is proven golden in the past decade or so IMO.

I could still afford to wait & see. The Samsung/Apple OLED initiative takes a bit longer time though as we're talking about 2024 or even later for larger displays such as 27 & 32 inches.
