I have used Zagg glass for years and have never encountered this, till I installed one on my iPhone X this past weekend. My wife’s 8+ does not have this characteristic. The slight rainbow effect are on the edges all around the screen.

For those who have Zagg or any other brand, have you noticed this? Could it be the effect of the OLED thus resulting to this?

I have I also, I believe that the shield is to perfect of a size, was thinking about reaching out to Zagg asking if they can make them just a tad larger...

I've just complained to them about this issue. CS says they will forward suggestion to design team. I'm sure if enough complain, they will do something about it. I had to order a replacement due to the fact that I had to keep adjusting it to make it fit perfect. I did get my replacement shipping fee waived.

I called tonight...going to try and get some pictures to submit...

I agree, it's too tight. We had ATT rep install it and they did a good job, it's just a tad to narrow. There's still plenty of room to go into the bezel without affecting cases (or the Apple one I have).

For this reason, I will probably try the Belkin, once I can find one - despite the reviews of cracks.

Well I’ve used several screen protectors on my replacement 8 plus that worked on my old 8plus that I sent back in for issues. And these have extreme halo effect on my 8 plus. These were same protectors I used before that didn’t. I’m just giving up. I’ve wasted so much money. :/

You won't regret the Belkin. It's great. Feels great and not all that smudgey.

Zagg how has their “Sapphire Defense” screen protector on their site (Best Buy has it as well) and they dropped the price of the Glass+ by $10. Based on reviews of this protector from other iPhone models does not seem to be positive.

I’ve emailed Zagg and asked them to send me a new Sapphire Defense given it’s the same price as I paid for the Glass+, which to me is a defective product.

For those of you who are trying Belkin, good luck, mine cracked within one day.

I actually bought the Glass + last night at Best Buy and had them install it. The rainbow effect was horrible. Went back today and purchased the Sapphire instead. No more rainbows :)

Watch the reviews of that Sapphire on YouTube or even reviews on best buy. They are horrible. ZAGG claims it to be a hybrid of glass and plastic or something but they feel just like plastic and scratches easily per the reviews. $50 is totally not worth it IMO. I would return it if I were you ASAP.

I will stick with the Zagg replacement I will be receiving tomorrow and request for another one when they indeed release a slightly bigger version that will eliminate the rainbow effect.

Does anyone have any good experience with the Sapphire?

I’m confident that Zagg will resolve the issue by issuing a redesigned one. They will even waive the shipping so it will be a free replacement. The lifetime replacement warranty is what sold me.

God just bought a Zagg Sapphire protector for an iPhone 8+ today and it looked like absolute trash. I followed the steps correctly but ended up with a ton of dust under the screen. Not to mention it felt like cheap plastic (I know tempered glass is cheap but this is a whole different level).

I know it couldn't have been me as I applied another screen protector side by side to it and that one applied perfectly (not Zagg + different phone on the same table).

I actually returned the sapphire and went back to the glass. The fingerprint marks were enough for me to change back.

Best buy was able to install the glass for me and the rainbow effect is barrly noticeable unless youre looking for it.

Similar results here too. Installed the Zagg Glass+ on my wife’s iPhone X and it’s cut too small with effectively no overlap. After I saw the rainbow effects I decided to install a Spigen protector for now on my own phone. Zagg didn’t seem to care when I reached out to them but maybe they’ll make adjustments down the road. Save your $40 for the time being.

The Belkin that apple offers?
Disappointed to hear about the Zagg issues... I love the replacement policy and i have a store at my local mall.
My belkin has the rainbow effect on the top edges too though... its not enough to bother me right now

The difference is the 'rainbow' is in the bezel, so I don't mind it. But the smudges and dust attraction is discouraging.
It's only a day, so the jury is out on cracks.
My daughter has the Zagg glass plus. I'll compare in a week.

What does the rainbow effect look like? Pics.

One of my Maxboost does too if you look at it above halfway. It's just the tiniest sliver along the edge where it was cut at the bottom of the notch. I may try to reposition the next one slightly.

Agreed I believe its to do with the positioning as well, got mine done in an Apple store as well with the Belkin machine... I can clearly see though if it had moved up ever so slightly I wouldn't have rainbow effect at all at the top

I have the rainbow effect, but it doesn’t bother me much. If the Shield was just a little wider, this wouldn’t be a problem. I’ll check in a month or so to see if they’ve changed the dimensions.

I’ve used Zagg as well and have been satisfied. As with most however, I had a “rainbow” effect after applying the InvisibleShield Glass + to my new iPhone X. With protector still applied to the phone, I took it back to Best Buy. They returned the product and reapplied a new protector with a machine. Same issue. I can’t believe anyone has had success with this product. I bought a Belkin screen protector, thanks to Amplelink’s comment. Same cost as the Zagg and Apple applied it. Despite Belkin’s negative reviews, my iPhone X looks and feels great!
