Hello

I wonder if anybody could help me? This issue is driving me mad.

I have a pre-Airplay Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin speaker (with iPod dock) that for years now I've had working pretty much flawlessly streaming music with the original Airport Express. It would cut out now and again, but generally it worked great.

When I upgraded to an M1 MacBook Pro recently it continued to work the same, then one day I disconeected the MacBook from the external monitor when music was playing and I've had nothing but trouble ever since. It's constantly disconnecting with the Airport Express showing the orange light. Sometimes it starts working again, and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it will play for a few seconds then stop, and sometimes it'll play all day with no problems. Those days, however, are few and far between...

I've reset it multiple times, messed about with my network and swore at it repeatedly, but none have worked.

So my questions are, does anybody have a solution, or if not, are there are Airport Express alternatives to connect my speaker to? I can't find any, as it needs an audio jack to connect to the speaker...

Thank you.

What version of airport are you using? Can you stream from other devices to the setup? I checked on eBay and first and second generation versions are going for about $12 and $43 respectively. It’s possible its just failing. Second generation can do AirPlay 2, which you might want. Prices are down on these and I’m going to pick up another as a backup.

Thanks. It's the first generation, so getting pretty old now. Did wonder if it was simply failing...
