I'm selling my 17" Powerbook so I decided to zero out the data with the "rewrite random data" option -- I always heard "7 pass" but I'm pretty sure it said "8 pass" when I clicked it.

I started this on Tuesday afternoon, and now it's Friday night and it's still not finished!!!:confused:

It's a 100g HD, and I clicked the drive at the very top of the list -- the one with numbers, not what I would call the "sub-drive" of that which actually included the letters "HD".

Usually when I would wake up in the morning, I could see some progress, but in the last 24 hours there hasn't been any. It says "Creating Partition Map".

Is it normal for it to take this long?? Do you think it's frozen?

I think my buyer is going to get impatient -- what can I do?

Apple Care said I'd kill the HD if I quit out of it.

    Thanks!

Now it has been 36 hours and it hasn't done a thing!

Also, the mouse arrow has turned into the rainbow-colored pinwheel of death.
