Ok so I just downloaded Ziphone 3.0. I installed it on my iphone. Then I went to install a 3rd party program. When I hit install a window popped up and said

ERROR
Package download failed!

What is wrong? And what do I do?

I got this when I upgraded my phone yesterday and unlocked with ZiPhone 2.6.

Get onto WiFi and launch Installer. Installer will check for a new version, and download that.

You shouldn't have anymore Installer problems after that.

Make sure you reboot after you run ZiPhone as well.

a installer problem

sorry but your wrong, I had ipodtouchmaster's repo soft upgrade everything worked fine I decided to try the new ziphone 3.0 and then I was getting download package failed and main script execution errors.

last night I went back ipodtouchmasters soft upgrade and oh look installer works again :D ziphone needs looking at.

also I noticed when using iphonebrowser that I did not have full access to the touch as I would normally with ipodtouchmaster so what ever is new in 3.0 the permissions are not being set properly when jailbreaking.

out of curiosity when I rejailbroke to ipodtouchmasters way I stuck iphonebrowser in and tada full access to the touch so there is deffinately a permissions problem with the ramdisk and installer. Since SSH doesn't work the only other way is for someone to install terminal on the touch and apply permissions or find a different jailbreak mathod I guess.

I got the 'Package Download Failed' message too... but only with Conceited Software items...

If you manually re-add the Conceited Software repo, or install the community sources source, it should fix le problemo.

I have a few questions about ZiPhone. Here they are:

1. Is there any irreversable damage that is done by JUST jailbreaking using ZiPhone?

2. What is the difference between the two ZiPhone downloads: "Main" and "mirror"?

3. What does it mean in ZiPhone, when it says "Activate"?
If I have an iPhone that I want to keep with AT&T, and I just want to jailbreak it to get the Installer, do I jailbreak or jailbreak and Activate?

I have already jailbroken my iPhone using this guide. Then I downloaded something that messed up my phone, so I jailbroke using ZiPhone. Now, I was hoping to just jailbreak using ZiPhone again. Will someone smart please answer these questions?

Thanks in advance. :)

Ok well now I have another problem when I try to download another app it says Main Script Execution Error

Was up wit dat?

@ JustintheSaint
I would just restore, and start form scratch... I personally don't have an iPhone, but I think this would be the best option at this point. Then, if you want to simply get third party apps, open ZiPhone, and hit the "Jailbreak" button NOT the "Jailbreak + Activate" button (that is for people who want their phone on anther network). You'll be good from there.

@ Toaster6
Your running out of space in the Apps partition. To fix it, uninstall a bigger app (to make room), and install BossTool. Then, inside BossTool, click "Free Disk Space" then "Move Apps"... you'll be good.

I have one more question about ZiPhone:

Are the Jailbreak and Jailbreak+Activate buttons on the wrong places on the screen or are they labled incorrectly???:confused::confused:

Well you can download that easily from the installer...

Actually, it seems that recently a lot of iPhones have been having trouble getting BSD Subsystem to install from Installer.app after ZiPhone 2.6. I could not get it to install onto mine. I ended up installing Cydia and Fake BSD instead.... so (not that I need it now), that would actually have been a welcome feature! :)

So... I'm still wondering...

Which button in ZiPhone is the REAL "jailbreak" and NOT the "jailbreak + Activate" button???

@Justin
The one that says "Jailbreak" then in smaller text "iPod also supported"...

That should do it... I'd ask on the iPhone-subforum about these problems...

Something has to be wrong here, so, which one should I choose.

when I hit the jail break, it goes through all the motions like it's going to work, I get the zorro picture and you have successfully jail broken message, but then the touch is hung up at the itunes connection screen on the touch and itunes says there's an error.

Of course I can still restore and all, but 3.0 does not work for me where 2.6b does work.

Anyone know why?

I have restored to a fresh 1.1.4 and a 'new' ipod and still 3.0 will not work

I'm experiencing a serious problem here with Ziphone 3.0, son I wouldn't use it at this point. I just started the do-it-all function, but since 10 min, I just see a black screen with a white bar in the left corner.
What can I do now?

Just to let you know, I waited for half an hour, but nothing happened, so I just decided to take the iPhone out of the dock. I don't remember if I had to restart it, but Ziphone afterwards continued to run on it, and the iPhone started fine. However, there were some synchronization problems later on, but luckily, I was able to reset it with iTunes, and do the unlock/jailbreak/activation with Ziphone 2.6b. Afterwards, I did not touch Ziphone 3.0 anymore, I now switched to iLiberty.

Actually, Apple changed stuff in 1.1.4 and the afc2 disk (which iPhoneBrowser uses) is not enabled, so you have to install a small patch to re-enable it for iPhoneBrowser to work again... it has nothing to do with permissions. When you use Ziphone, you are running the "real" 1.1.4 firmware but, when you run the soft-upgrade, you are running 1.1.2 that has been injected with piece parts from 1.1.4 but, you are still in fact running the 1.1.2 kernel. Ziphone is still way better than the soft-upgrade... 2.6b works perfectly for me but, I did not try 3.0.

I all recommend you to use iLiberty+ for an ipod touch jailbreak... Really it's great!!

WARNING: IF this isn't clear already: If you use an iPod Touch, DON'T USE THE JAILBREAK AND ACTIVATE button. ONLY the JAILBREAK button. Someone shouldn't label that button for the Touch, the activation seems to break the touch.

For ZiPhone's sake, I'll confirm perfect function if you make sure NOT to try to use an option with activation on an iPod Touch.

iPod touch's don't need to be activated because it's not a phone... are people so stupid that they think they need to activate their iPod touch? Wow.

I agree generally, but can't the software tell whether an iPod or an iPhone is attached, and just not make the feature, which provides no useful function on an iPod anyway, not available?

I mean, if I had a giant button on my desktop that said "one touch reformat your hard drive," I would know not to touch it, and do my best not to do so even by accident, but my preference is to not have a giant button to reformat my hard drive on my desktop... ;)

I guess I see your point. I suppose he could make it so it automatically detected what kind of device is connected rather just assuming you pressed the correct button for the correct device.

Just use iLiberty+. It does everything ZiPhone does, except cleaner, neater and it it is reversible on an iPhone.

I guess also though that he has better things to do with his time. And in the end, his software is free, it was incredibly easy to Jailbreak, Unlock, and Activate my iPhone, and it didn't cost anything. So do consider me grateful.
