I still wonder why either Apple or Zoom have keep the app unavailable via the App Store. It must be one of the most widely used softwares that isn't "sanctioned" that way. Anyone know or have thoughts?

Zoom hasn't put it there.

Not particularly unusual, really. Lots of apps, the dev has chosen not to go the App Store route. The entire Adobe suite, for example.

Most apps aren't and will never be in the Mac App Store. It's a bad deal for developers financially and Apple's requirements, both technical and procedural, mean most applications wouldn't qualify anyway (including Zoom, as haralds correctly notes).

A Mac is a open-ended, general purpose computer. the idea of a locked-down App Store in that context is silly.
