It’s quite obvious that Facebook (and everyone else for that matter) found a loophole. Why else would everyone suddenly be so optimistic about losing power?

"It's possible that we may even be in a stronger position if Apple's changes encourage more businesses to conduct more commerce on our platforms by making it harder for them to use their data in order to find the customers that would want to use their products outside of our platforms"

Is this English?
I think he means that there is a possibility that Facebook would benefit from businesses who choose to use Facebook more than they did before Apple added the App Privacy labels because it will be difficult for them to do commerce with customers outside of Facebook if they do not have access to their personal data because of the App Store changes without having them use another platform that could help them avoid losing money in the long run if they didn’t know about it. In other words, he’s using English words, but the meaning is non existent.

It would be ironic if Facebook ended up benefiting from Tim Cook’s attempt to put them out of business.

Zuck wants to introduce Zuck Bucks that could allow FB to track where your money comes and goes. They have always been trying to become like an intelligence agency that can also manipulate public feelings and beliefs on a much wider level than any government agency. They already abused this power too much and destroyed many lives.

pretty sure they are just going to force you to use your phone number to make an account or to continue using your account. It’s happening already on several sites

Or:

“Wait. We already know all there is to know about you because we’ve been collecting your data for decades, and we’ll still be able to guess what ads you and your children’s children will be interested in for another few decades, and now nobody else has the chance to collect that kind of data on you forever so we’ll forever be the only entity that people can come to when they want to target you.” -Mark

There is no loophole. All Facebook has to do is show a one time prompt explaining the benefits of tracking to a user. The choices for the user are “sure“ or “ask the app not to track me” there is no “don’t track me option”.
most people with 100s of friends and years of Facebook history aren’t going to stop using Facebook for this reason, (I stopped for other reasons.) it my stop a few new users, but that’s it.

I'm not disagreeing with you, just saying that it’s not a loophole. Apple could make this more enforceable in the future, but for now, all Apple is doing is making sure people know that they are being tracked, not stopping the tracking.

Oh this is SO easy. Every time an ad pops up on your feed, block it and block everything from that advertiser as irrelevant.

Eventually they will run out of advertisers and your feed will be ad-free. Except possibly for the less than a handful of ads you really want.

Apple's non-tracking feature is not enforceable so I don't see why Facebook and others are that concerned.

My Facebook account was finally deleted alongside with Messenger like a week ago (takes 30 days for it to delete in case you "change your mind"). I wish everyone could experience this feeling of freedom :)

Is he going to take a full page newspaper spread to highlight the "benefits" to small business now then?

How much data is google in Safari able to "see" about the user? If the answer is A Lot, then perhaps fukbook might pay google to have that data off every user.
If apple know this workaround, then perhaps they might seriously launch Siri Search Engine. And I honestly can't wait for it.

I think his point is, Apples change will hurt all data gathering platforms equally. Facebook is in a much better position to weather this proverbial storm. Before advertisers had options to get customer data from any app, now advertisers will more likely have to work with Facebook since they're a bigger company.

Translation: No matter what a small business does, we still own them. There is no where else for them to go. We would have made money before targeting their ads to unsuspecting users, but now we'll charge more for them to target to those that have specifically opted in.
If they don't pay more, they have to buy more ads to hit the same number of customers they did before the changes.
