iPod touch Zune Special Event???

There is some word on the street, specifically Seattle Weekly magazine that MSoft will be having a press conference today about their Zune player, emphasizing the supposed community elements of the thing, like the DJ option etc.

This seems a little poor considering the Showtime presentation Stevie just had. This has got to make them look like they are playing catch up - or has this been planned for a while and Apple usurped the spotlight?

We shall see what we shall see when they actually get around to shipping the "next iPod killer". Till then, its all a bunch of puffery.

If Microsoft was going to have a special event they would wait until after Apple sends out their invites for the iPod event and then hold their even the day before. As I believe they did previously with the Zune.

Where Apple leads Microsoft follows...
