His is a first generation iPod, and your is a second generation iPod.

OK...just out of curiosity...if I were to somehow locate the original, first-ever iPod with FireWire 400, still sealed in the box, could I connect it to my iMac running OS X 10.5.5 and actually load music on it? I'm not sure about iTunes since that didn't come out until later if I do recall correctly.

just a little update, here is where my collection stands atm, for some reason my 120gig classic isn't in the photo...weird!
I'm more of a Mac than iPod collector, but I'll upload mine. Unfortunately the 4th gen got lost last christmas on a road trip.
