Your guess was close. California was correct. It was taken in the parking lot just south of the Huntington Beach pier.

Great colors and I LOVE the subject! Just purchased my first VW ('12 JSW TDi) and am loving it. Actually learned how to drive a stick in a sixty-something VW Vanagon. That was a challenge. The stick was about 3' long with some pretty long throws. As I recall the hp was around 43. Up hills and crosswinds were interesting:D

BTW, where was the photo taken. I'm guessing CA....SoCal.....Malibu/Hermosa Beach????

Cheers

I took this through our kitchen window with my wife's P&S camera. Until I downloaded it I didn't know the hawk was holding it's dinner.

Please tell me how you get your watermark on your photo's like that! :p
I have a nikon j1 and upload to iphoto on my iMac

I don't know how appie57 did it, but I know there's a setting in Lightroom for a watermark which seems fairly comprehensive and easy to use.

As mentioned, LR can do watermarks. As well, Easy Batch Photo from Yellow Mug software does watermarks if LR is not available. EBP can resize, and reorient, etc etc batches of photos. It's best to create and use presets.

(I have no affiliation with Yellow Mug, other than being a customer.)

Nice photo. I like these unexpected extras that crop up every now and then.
The bird is a Cooper's Hawk and peolpe big on backyard feeders aren't really keen on them. They do what you caught in your image often.

Not much to say about the photo. It is only cleaned up in Photoshop, not heavily manipulated. Taken July 1st of 2011. Will go back to this location next July 1st and do more of these.

Qantas at warp speed

Qantas B767 at warp speed? Well, it was landing actually and not going that fast. The shutter speed makes it seem fast though. I was quite pleased with this photo.

1/6sec, F/8.0, ISO2000, 240mm.

I've been trying to do the same type of photo with Cathay Pacific's new B747-8F that flies into Sydney once or twice a week, but the timing and light are never right. Usually it leaves too early and the light is too bright - or it doesn't turn up at all.

Avro, enjoy your aviation pictures. Got any good shots of helo's? I'm a bit partial to rotary wing. Cheers

I was sitting on a bench in Faneuil Hall and this fellow sat across from me. I captured the picture with the camera resting on my knee.

This was shot at Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia. This is where parts of Transformers 2 was shot at. The walls of the old prison are 30' high and hand built from stone. It's pretty cool that you can look over the walls and see sky scrapers.

A great bird shot made epic with the wording on the sign...made me smile thankyou!

It made me smile when I saw the gull perched on that sign. It was quite patient with me, too, and I was able to get fairly close. I was close enough that it flinched at the noise but didn't fly when I snapped the shutter.
