I agree with Sdashiki --- this preview looks crap, and it doesn't look like Transformers at all. This is essentially a movie about robots landing on earth, except they're using the Transformer name as a way to sell it.

The characters are there, the foundation of the storyline is there, the concept is there, it's about the same sides, the attitudes of the main characters are there..why/how does it not look like a 21st century, live action version of Transformers?

I'm going to watch it anyway, but I really don't think they needed to call this movie "Transformers." They could have called it something else and saved us fans the pain of watching the Transformer story butchered.

Remind us again how it's been butchered? Did it not get completely butchered with all the crap versions after the original series? Seriously, imagine if they'd made a film of transformers Beast Wars? Now that would be a travesty.

And I really hope to hear robots talking, and not too many humans.

I guess you'll be disappointed in the fact that the original Optimus Prime is voicing Optimus Prime. They really stuffed up there...

A least Beast wars was a lot better than the other transformer crap they shoved down I thoughts. I honestly like it and how they ended up tieing it in with the original G1 Transformers.

I just wish people who loved the series when young and are now grown up can't take this film and enjoy it for what it's going to be, rather than bash it before they've seen it, criticise points that are irrelevant and really just kick up a fuss over nothing (like plot holes that aren't plot holes, and saying there's plot holes even before they've seen the film...).

It's a film about good and evil, big fighting robots from a fantastical planet, that's based on a near-30 year-old cartoon and comic series and that's been made with a big budget that they have to recoup.
Thanks. I think most everyone will love it, and most everyone who's in the target market is eager to see it. I think most of the people complaining now are prideful that they criticised the film earlier on, and still want to be "right", or they're stuck in nostalgia, and do not really appreciate the series, so much as they appreciated their childhood memories of it (which no movie can replace). Time to make some NEW memories for this generation, and make the true fans give that standing ovation I can only hope the film will merit.

You're totally right. I met one of the CGI designers at a convention. Great stuff. Were I a vengeful person, I'd hunt down the makers of Armada, Energon, and Cybertron (and the ones I didn't even want to know I didn't know about), and make them pay... :p

I'm ok with that, of course. I just hope that the story doesn't revolve around the quest of a human who somehow gets swept up in this "Transformers" war. Maybe the story will end up closer to the original than I thought. I'm going to see it anyway, because I have hopes, but after watching the preview, I'm preparing for the worst....

I do like the fact they got the orginal voice actor for prime to take part in the movie. Huge part of the reason he was willing to do it was because of the fans and the fans wanting it to happen.

Hopefully they will do it right. The human (spike from the original) kind of had part of the story revolve around him and how he got swept up with the transfomers and in many ways it is important that they do have a human get swept into it and have a little of the story go around him but it should not be the main focus. Hell in the comics a lot of it revolved around the humans.
I do like how they link him with bumble bee like in the original comic.

I might like to add that the orginal Voice of Megatron is doing the voicing for Megatron as well.
 You... realize that's not true? Frank Welker is doing Megatron in the video game, not the movie. The movie has the more than capable talents of Hugo Weaving. Again though, this is not a bad thing, although I know Peter Cullen was dissappointed he couldn't team with Welker on the movie too.
Also they stated the only reason that they are doing the voices for Prime and Megatron is because of the fans and because the fans really wanted it and are very happy to be part of it.
I know Cullen felt that way about the movie. From the way he tells it, it was overwhelming fan demand that got him past others more than willing to take on the role. I'm happy it worked out. I think everyone's going to be blown away. Not too much longer now.

Yup. The original series didn't include much human involvement because humans didn't sell the toys, at least not until the Headmasters... but I think creating a REAL story, and putting solid stakes in what happens will ONLY be possible by using human perspective, juxtaposed to the lives of these alien beings. This has always been the case. The shtick with Bumblebee's voice box I think will play out very well.

Only three hours till I see this and the time can't tick by soon enough!

Isn't it great that our side of the world gets a full week before our friends stateside? Too bad the only theater in town here is dubbed in the native language which I do not understand. Unfortunately, even though its released, I'll be seeing it the same time as the US.

It is great. So often has been the case that the US gets a movie first, but this is a full week before it opens there. :D

Holy crap!

That was a movie and half!

Seriously, loved pretty much every minute of it. It's not perfect, it's got some "Bad Bay Moments", but equally it's pretty damn awesome and has tons of "Excellent Bay Moments."

Probably most enjoyable film I've seen in a long, long time, and there was a whole lot more genuine Transformers stuff in there than I thought there would be. Overall, I think that film lived up to my expectations and that is saying something.

states get it on Monday July 2nd for pre release and the release state side I think is a good release date because it going with July forth.

Sadly I will not be able to watch it because of obligation that are going on in the town I am in on that day. Some how going to the centenryal of the county is more important. I mean only one of the guys I work for is speaking there.

I'm glad you got something positive from the film. And I rather enjoy those Bad Bay Moments. Bad Boys 2 was full of it.:D

Thank goodness the theater here plays in Soundtrack meaning I won't have to watch an English movie and read english subtitles (the worst movie going experience ever lol). Seeing it in 10 minutes, watched the 1st transformers movie (the 80s version ftw!) and am so psyched about this next one, hopefully the guitar licks are left and "TRANSFORMERS" in screen transitions are left out.

I'm pretty anal about movies... and generally take action/movies adapted from other tv shows/products etc etc with a grain of salt... and I never really did like transformers, even the concept of it..

But this movie seriously rocked soooo much!!! After this post i'm probably going back and seing it again (which I have never done) because it was soo freaking awesome!!!!!! It damn well was the shortest 2 1/2 hours i've ever gone through and it was sooo worth it!

You HAVE to watch this movie! It's jsut soo AWESOME!!!!! *head explodes*

Those "Excellent Bay Moments" are just some of the reasons why I am going to hate the film, but either way they'll get my money when the movie comes out. I didn't like the original G1 cartoon movie when I first saw it in the theaters but now it's one of my all time favorites. Anything is possible.

Now that I'm hearing Monday the 2nd in the US as a premiere date, I might have to start making plans. :D

+1! I think just about everyone will enjoy it! ZOMG Went in with no expectations and came out PUMPED!!!!!! This is coming from a Transformers DIEHARD from the beginning, I have the 1st movie dvd seen all the series up to 1999 lol, in comparison, man this is JUST AWESOME. Some cheezy parts but what movie doesn't have them, I am just raving, the length of the movie is not bad, like kusanagi said, SHORTEST 2 1/2 HRS, you do not get bored unless you are looking to be, . Remember Casino Royale how it dragged on and on and on? This is the same length but does not drag. Bay did a great job. Can't wait till our friends Stateside see it.

Glad to hear a couple initial positive reviews, but I'm still going to hold out until I read more reviews to determine if I'm going to check it out or not...

AICN has a boat load of reader/contributor reviews, from all over the world. The overwhelming majority is are generally positive, with a few exceptions of course.

I also read on there a great phrase, "Bayhem"!

Yeah, that was incredible. I think it had the best special effects of any movie I've seen. I was really thrilled with how Bay did, and they did leave it open for a sequel, surprise surprise.

One thing they did have was a mystery trailer right before the movie started, I have no idea what the trailer was about. They listed no title, and I think only the date of release for it. Very mysterious.
