So, I'm assuming 1.5 will not be available today but in October?? I wonder if the stolen RED VC has anything to do with macrumors RED announcement & Apple, though they thought it had to do with BONO and not with Oakley RED.

Personally I much prefer Lightroom. There's way too much wrong with RAW workflow in Aperture.
Ditto. Esp since Apple can't be bothered to support my camera. Just downloaded the latest LR beta.

sounds like some good stuff, ilife integration. and other integration to make Aperture more Mac integrated than just as a stand alone application. Good stuff

But...

I wish they'd update the laptops!

hell Yeah!! new MBP please

When is next opportunity for MBP updates (in the limelight I mean)?

If the MBP's or other hardware is not updated at this event, then when is the next public event to have this happen?

Aperture 1.5 news:

- images can be stored on DVDs or other media
- previews are shown in high quality even if they are stored on DVDs/"offline"
- Aperture Library can be used in media browser of iLife/iWork (iDVD for ex.)
- open API for example for the online ordering of images via internet (through non-Apple services)
- API available through ADC
- new loupe, magnification level no longer tied to specific settings/steps
- better sharpening tool
- meta data handling greatly simplified, presets allow meta data to be assigned to several images etc.
- new full screen comparison mode for several images at once
- loupe shows color information
- new editing functions
- color adjustments can be locked to specific color ranges, preset support
- (cool!) offline media can be "edited", meta data accessible too
....:)

I guess apple is just trying to create a hype around a product that has not had the succes, they anticipated.

Adobe is pushing their agenda pretty hard, so apple has to show of what they got, even if that is not aperture 2.0.

The magnifying glass indicates Farbwerte

Woohoo! Finally, Aperture's magnifying glass includes added go-faster Farbwerte! I hope that's 64-bit Farbwerte, because this cat don't dig no other Farbwerte!

Farbwerte Farbwerte Farbwerte!

Apple doesn't have to have a public event to update the machines. They'll just appear on the website someday.

Note that you don't need a public event. Remember, the iMacs were upgraded with Core 2 Duo processors silently. And if I remember correctly, the last time the MBP was updated (with the processor speedbumps from 1.83 and 2.0 to 2.0 and 2.16), it was silent as well.

They are just trying to please the shareholders, without capsizing the boat. I highly doubt we will ever see such an inovative product such as the ipod from Apple again(hardware) It still shocks me that they came out with an MP3 player 5 years ago. One product. There have been a plethora of great products out since not including DAP/MP3 and Apple hasn't had there name on one. I needed a stinking Camera!!!!!!! Though it looks like the MacBooks not Pros are getting a little bump.

Exactly. MacBooks appeared with no fanfare at all.

Tally me in the 'I care' crowd as well.

If the student price were $99, I could buy it in a heartbeat... but it's so close that I'm trying to find a way to get it.

If you have a student ADC membership, and still have your hardware discount asset—you can purchase it for $99 (EDU) at the ADC Store.

If the MBs not Pros get updated ill be head over heals!!! I do think its possible because the MBPs are due for a major overhaul, and it may take a while longer to get that sorted out. MBs only need the chip replacement
