Yes, where's the MacBook Pro with integrated toaster?

Quite why people keep expecting announcements of upgraded laptops at a photography conference is beyond me.

Why apple hasn't released a C2D macbook pro in time for the "back to school" buying season is beyond me. Every single one of these events is a possibility for an upgrade. Furthermore, those of us that want the latest and greatest for a $2,000+ investment are getting a little tired of being let down over and over again.

Get with the program Apple!! GOSH

I'm not a photographer, so I don't understand the significance of this update, but I was surprised to see all of these integration improvements. Is integrating with Flickr or your iPod or keynote that useful to a pro? I'd have though these were things more of interest to an average Mac user trying to show off his vacation/baby photos.

Are you pros interested in these things? Or maybe Apple is trying to get the serious amateur interested in Aperture?
There are tons of serious amateurs using or interested in Aperture. Or Lightroom. This would be an excellent feature for me. (if I could use the program, see above)

The worst "feature" of Aperture is the high computer requirements. It really is a resource hog for not much reason. LR is becoming very similar with far less system specs.

Revised requirements?

According to the sidebar, my 1.6GHz G5 with NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra now makes the cut to run Aperture. Didn't think either of those met the minimum requirements with 1.1.

Why are some people here so outraged that there weren't any MBP updates? Remember: this is a photographer's event.

Not all of Apple's releases need to be a fanfare event. Remember a couple years ago when they said they were trying to get away from that? Yes. So we'll see new MBPs and maybe MBs soon enough. Maybe "next Tuesday" as you are all so fond of saying.

Until then, please have patience. I am tired of wading through the adolescent whining about MBs and Merom. Get some patience!

ok, so now it looks like the event is over.

no hardware announcements. which is bad. we really need a new macbook pro.

System requirements?

This is new (from the updated Aperture page)

"Supporting every member of the Mac family, Aperture 1.5 runs on every desktop — from Mac mini to iMac to Mac Pro — and every notebook — including both the MacBook and MacBook Pro. So you can run Aperture at home or in your studio. And you can take all your photos with you on location or to a client’s office. Aperture and the Mac make one unstoppable team."

Now it runs on ANY intel mac.

One NEW feature of 1.5 quoted from Apple.com web site......

Run Aperture on any Intel-based Mac. Any desktop, including Mac mini, iMac, and Mac Pro. Or any notebook, including MacBook and MacBook Pro.

Now if we could only get Photoshop and Photoshop elements competitors to go with it. The major advantage adobe has now is the complete package. Lightroom Beta4 is no slouch either.

It seems one of the best features is the upgrade price for existing customers. Free. This makes all of the upgrades even better, since they are free. Apple has really eliminated the possibility for pundits to bash the new version, since it is free for existing users. It is an amazing upgrade.

Is there shown any RAW cameras supported in 1.5 that weren't in the current version? I wasn't up on that since mine was supported and that's all that mattered to me, but if there are new camera's supported it would point to 10.4.8 to be released later this week too.

See the previous posts. A number of Fuji cameras that were not supported now are.

the 'what's new' page says "Work with RAW images from more than 50 camera models, including the Fuji S2, Fuji S3 Pro, and Sony A100." but i don't know which ones exactly .. i know the Fujis are new because i have the S9000/9500 which is still not supported and it didn't support any Fujis before
