Star Wars Hologram Effect for iChat and PhotoBooth

Macrumors MOD PLEASE.

Hey do you think there is anyway for macrumors to also link to my upgraded hologram iChat effect? It isn't perfect but I think it's a little closer to what everyone has been waiting for, and I'm coming up with new better versions all the time. I just think not enough people are going to know that it exists.
 
Another great effect

Hey all, I was digging through the dev tools and found a quartz filter called psychotic.qtz. It looks great in Quartz Composer, but I cant get it to work in iChat. Are there any guides online? if not, maybe someone smarter than I can do their magic.

I'm loving Quartz... Any there any good Quartz Composer for Dummies - esque books?
 
Ok , I was putting it off but I think it may be time to install leopard,. Great work folks. Keep em coming...🙂🙂🙂

Note: Since this file is based on "HoloGhostblue" it will actually still be called that in the iChat effects pane. I tried to change it, but didn't know how. Any ideas?

Edit: Ok here are my newest effects! Just download the HoloTruePack2! the one called HoloExperiment is the Upgraded version of my last one. The one called HoloTrue is a very early attempt at appeasing many of the macrumors members who have pointed out that a SW hologram needs the little bars of lighter color moving up and down on the image. see what you think, I think we're getting closer and closer!

UPDATE: THIS IS THE COMPLETE EFFECTS PACK INCLUDING THE BEST HOLOGRAM EFFECT EVER, AND THE OLD ONES, AND UPSIDE DOWN

Nice work 🙂 I havent had time to do anything for a few days but I just updated my post near the top of page 1 to mention these other effects later in the thread.
 
Will these qtz files only work on the Leopard version of iChat and Photobooth or could they be made to work on Tiger too?
 
this is awesome - you guys have done some great work here

i wonder if this is the real reason why they didn't release the version they previewed (aside from possible copyright issues) - because it's driven you guys to actually get to grips with the quartz composer and produce it ourselves, and let the rest of us know that such cool effects are possible and might inspire some of us to try fiddling with making our own effects whereas before we'd have been happy to just use what we were given

thanks for doing this, guys!!! what an amazing simple little way to have a new level of fun with 10.5!!! we're sending out halloween emails to friends with the green hologhostgreen effect to family and friends! should be hilarious to get their reaction - our explanation will be . . . only on a mac . . . and only with leopard!!! ever the macevangelists!

thankyou to all who have posted an effect... they're awesome and most work better than the ones that came with leopard (for me anyway)!

i followed the instructions on how to add all these to photobooth but just wanted to add... even before adding the name of the effect to the 'effects order playlist' the effect turns up .. just adds in where ever there is a blank space... anyone else notice this? does this mean i don't have to do that step?
 
it would be ncie to see a ichat effect, that has the X-ray like appearance but only your body and face and the background is normal, and maybe that it's a little transparent.

Good thinking, I like it but maybe Apple might create an area for developers to submit them, downloadable from Apple.com/uk/downloads or something?
I very much like the idea though, beat Apple at their own game.

Just wondering...

Why would it not work with PPC ? Have the last G5 iMac, and up til
now happy with it. I can get all the quartz things like screen savers etc
working just fine, but not the effects on iChat and only the first 2 pages
within photoboot.

Any thoughts anyone why it would not be working ? Is this just a ploy from apple to get people to dump their PPC systems?

why does 64 bit work with core solo and not with core duo? but then with core 2 duo?
 
o.k. so i,m hanging out to try this....but i need help, how do i find the library / compositions so i can copy into it.

if there is anyone still reading this thread, I have finally implemented the "scanning bars" that everyone has requested, and they look good, just like the real thing. I want to post my newest effect here but since there is no link to this thread anymore, it seems people have stopped coming, which is sad cause I have some REALLY good effects to share with everyone. I made the upside down one, and now I've finally perfected the hologram effect. If you guys want the better hologram effect, post a reply on this thread for me to see, and also let macrumors know they should have a link especially for iChat effects!
