Agreed VZW customer service sucks, and they are run by trolls . . . . however

lol @ all you children that screamed, moaned, and bitched ever since these rumors surfaced in February saying it won't happen, VZW will never the the iPhone, yadda yadda yadda.

As much as you might <3 ATT, competition is good for the user. Having more than 1 carrier carry the iPhone can do nothing but reduce price and increase ATT coverage.

It will be interesting to see how Android competes with iOS on a level playing field in the U.S.

Watch for "Buy One Get Six Free" Android device deals in 2011. ;)

(Now how about an iPhone on Sprint and T-Mobile too?)
If it were to go to sprint i'd jump verizon ship they have exclusive deals to roam on verizon and by far the cheapest plans

Some people prefer to remain ignorant until the last minute, some of us like to follow rumors in search of the truth a bit earlier than the general public. That would be why this site exists...am I right?

Yes and no. The Verizon iphone rumors have been consistently wrong. It is more wishful thinking than substantive rumors. The rumors posted here concerning other issues tend to be closer to the truth, or when not, the posts usually contain some information about why the rumor may not be true. It seems like macrumors does not wish to downplay the iphone rumors like they do others. I imagine because it is exciting and people want to believe it. So why kill the excitement?

Everyone of these posted rumors should have disclaimers:
1. A listing of all previously reported "reliable" rumors of a Verizon iphone release date. Just list the dates that have come and gone and were supposedly true that time for some reason or another.
2. A statement that it was revealed in a court case that Apple and ATT have a contract until 2012. Several articles have stated that a contract could have been revised, but unlike the contract revealed in the court case, no revised contract has been revealed. It is wishful thinking that the contract was redone.

Its strange that mac rumors will post a rumor they have found and when necessary report that the source has a poor track record or give some other reason for doubting it if they feel necessary but they refuse to point out these reasons for doubting the verizon iphone rumors again and again. So it goes.

its coming....

Now how long will it take to unlock so I can take it to sprint :)

It's not really a question of unlocking....CDMA phones aren't actually locked.

It's more a question of will Sprint add the iPhone ESNs to their database.

"Verizon, sources say, will sell its own version of the iPhone 4"

This worries me. Verizon is notorious for dumbing down it's phones ... like disabling the GPS on the BlackBerry unless you pay for the service from Verizon.

They haven't done that to the Android phones so why would they on the iPhone. Besides, with the iPhone they have a direct competitor with a history. Removing something like GPS would be way too obvious and would cause them to loose sales.

Although the statement is something to think about.

Apple would never agree to this. In fact, I bet this was one of the sticking points of the contract that Verizon refused to accept. I don't see Apple allowing a gimped phone to be sold, since their primary focus is the user experience, and when location services doesn't work, well, it's not so much of an experience :)

I still believe there will be no Verizon iPhone anytime soon.

Lol @ you calling people that disagree with you moaning, screaming, bitching children. Grow up you internet badas$

I will get the Verizon iPhone if it comes out.

What I am more concerned with are reasonable data plans.

Well see 1/6/11. I'm make sure to PM you when it happens. :p

Verizon is the WORST. I don't trust them at all. Sure all carriers are morons, but Verizon was awful while I was there. ATT was fine, but their call quality and service was crappy. T-Mobile coverage is awful but service is good. That's why I chose Sprint. Best mix between coverage and service.

It's not really fair to say "___ has crappy coverage." because all of them are bad in some places, and perfectly fine in others. It's all a matter of location. For example, where i live my AT&T service is perfect in most places. 3G, 4-5 bars all the time. I think the best way to choose the best overall company is by price/customer service.

Too little too late.

This is great news... as I have been waiting quite a while for this. However, it's too late. I axed my cell phones last month, got a ClearSpot 4G+ mobile hotspot, a new iPod Touch and a Skype out/in number and now use it for all my calls.

After a year, I will end up saving $1,000+ and don't have to be tied to any cell carrier. It doesn't work exactly like a cell... it's more like a hybrid landline. But in all, I'm very happy with how it works and the price I'm able to do it for.

Maybe I'll reconsider in another few years once these cell carriers get their heads out their rears with the price on calling and data packages. :D

I'm on Verizon.. it's the only cell service that works everywhere I go.

AT&T.. T-Mobile.. Sprint.. simply doesn't work where I live.

I'm using a Palm Pre and it works great. Use it as a mobile hot spot with my PowerBook G4.. Palms WebOS, in my opinion, is far superior to Android.

Android feels like a clunky Linux distro.

I'm looking forward to the iPhone coming to Verizon and will definitely be picking one up.

Do you ever leave the US? If so, leave your new VZ iPhone behind because it'll be useless.

Dave

What a USELESSSSS iPhone if ever!!!

That's the bottom line it is a useless iphone if you can’t travel the world with it!!! Tsk, tsk, yep you guy’s heard first.:p

If I am wrong, and I doubt that I am, and a 2011 Verizon iphone appears, it sounds like I would want to wait until the next generation anyway. As much as I have been happy with verizon for having better coverage in specific areas I need it, it looks like the iphone on CDMA would be limited based on comments I have read on this forum. So if I were willing to accept a slight decrease in coverage for my needs in exchange for the perks of an iphone, why would I want the more limited iphone option?

It all depends on where you live buddy. I'd happily take a CDMA iPhone living here in AZ. If you get out of the major metro areas hear, AT&T, or more accurately, T-Mobile their AZ rural carrier SUX!!! Voice and data at the same time? In 2+ years of use, I thing I've maybe need that ability once. I'd much rather be able to make a phone call when I need to. Besides, LTE rollout to rural areas is going to be last on the list, for ANY carrier. By that time, it will be iPhone6.

What, Sprint doesn't work where you live!!!!

That is correct, he should leave his VZ behind because it is uselesss to the second power....:D
