Verizon iPhone (4.2.6) does JB with GP RC5 B4!

GP just released RC5 B4 which now has the support needed to JB your Verizon iPhone running 4.2.6

You can get it, as always, at http://www.greenpois0n.com

The app has always had the capability to update 4.2.6 into JB status, but it needed to be tweaked and that tweak is out.

I just ran it, and looks like it went smooth as butter.

** NOTE: This just came out TODAY. My previous post, and other posters, about support in RC5 B2, was incorrect. I've deleted/edited it w/ this one.

ahahaha Im loving this! Getting my iPhone tomorrow and then on top of that ima jailbreak it the same day!!! hahaha SWEET! :D
 
Hmm maybe not... I dont think im fully understanding what greenpoison is. Hmmm whats the difference between greenpoison and redsnow... Guess its time 2 research. Doh!

Anyone able to give a quick answer?

RedSn0w 0.9.7b7 and Greenpois0n RC5 are both for iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak without 4.2b3 SHSH blobs.

RedSn0w 0.9.7b7 and Greenpois0n RC5 can also untethered jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 iPhone 4 ( 01.59.00 ), iPad 2 & iPod Touch 4G.

RedSn0w 0.9.7 has a series beta versions, b1-b7, but the Windows version did not been released until b5 .

These beta versions don't run perfectly for iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak. That is so annoying!

But Greenpois0n has fewer bugs than RedSn0w.

Where's this RedSn0w windows version?
 
Is this an untethered JB? And does it revert the firmware to 4.2.1? I went to the Greenpois0n page to download it, and I just wanted to understand whether it's reverting it to 4.2.1 or keeping it at 4.2.6. (I don't want to lose the personal hotspot functionality).

it keeps it at 4.2.6. Apple didn't fix the greenpois0n hole until 4.3, so Verizon iPhones are able to be jailbroken out-of-box

redsn0w does not untether unless you have 4.2b3 SHSHs and access to the 4.2b3 IPSW. The only untethered jailbreak for 4.2.1 is greenpois0n.
 
Just received my iPhone and it's updating to 4.2.6 as we speak.

Have to run errands afterwards so no time to JB it, yet.

Anyone else tried it since receiving your phone? Issues? etc.
 
4.2.6 includes personal hotspot? Does that mean TetherMe will enable this on 4.2.6? The notes I have seen said 4.3 but I admit I haven't kept too up-to-date on this.

Patience. The tetherMe devs couldn't even test with a vzw iPhone until now so how could they know yet?
 
I'm having trouble getting it to work with my VZW iPhone. It goes into DFU mode, but GP doesn't pick it up and has even crashed sometimes (Mac OS X)

Just tried it twice with mine. Did the exact same thing. I'm just gonna wait until something more stable comes out before I try again.

I just tested it, and so far so good.

I'm on the IRC channel right now. Sounds like many VZW users are having problems after jailbreaking. Is yours stable so far?

Ok, great. Thanks! I followed the link and just jailbroke my iPhone. Working great!

So far so good for me. It did reboot once after I installed Cydia, but that's it. I'll have to keep an eye on it, but I haven't any issues so far.
