Verizon iPhone (4.2.6) does JB with GP RC5 B4!

Yeah,
Make sure you get the updated file. You need to be using the JB tool from the gp_mac_rc5_b4.zip file, not B2.

I did the jailbreak right when b4 went live before 5pm. Been messing with my phone since without a hitch. Haven't had a single reboot or crash.

Did iTunes tell you your phone was in recovery mode and your phone stayed off? Or did the iTunes logo and USB cable pop up on your phone?
 
So I've had it JB via GP's current tool for a few hours now.

I initially had one restart after installing Cydia, but that's been it. Otherwise it's been stable, and all that good stuff. I've installed a few themes via Cydia w/o issue, and a few 3rd party apps.

So far so good.
 
I'm debating whether to do it now or wait until tomorrow to make sure theres no problems lol. I'm new to this whole jailbreaking thing, and it would be a shame to brick my brand new ViPhone (knock on wood!!!!!)

You wont brick it. Just google "DFU mode" if you have any problems.
 
I did the jailbreak option using gp. On the verizon iphone fw. 4.2.5 and the jailbreak went through all the steps. For some reason when i click on the loader application it will not open. Anyone have any ideas on this one its very puzzling. Thanks in advanced....

-update- downloading the 4.2.6 fw update and will report back after trying again.

As long as you are getting the lingo down, don't bother learning the word brick.

Brick is a term only IDIOTS use because they aren't smart enough to solve the problem they have. They then ignorantly claim they have bricked their phone due to incompetence on their part. They are the ones that are bricks, not the phone.

A brick is a dead phone that can NEVER be repaired. Period. Anyone who says different has no business instructing anyone else on cell phone hacking.

End of rant.
 
I jb'd and it's all good. Any word on tetherme? It's the only purchased app that I can't redownload for free in cydia, in other words he's making me buy it again. at 1.99 don;t mind but need to know if it's gonna work
 
There's almost always a way out.

For example: Today I wasn't paying attention to an app, and accidentally got stuck in DFU and when I tried to restore it gave me an error. Tried a manual restore (instead of just the regular i used the option+restore) and got the same error code. No matter what I tried I just got the "sync you idiot!" icon on the screen.

Simple google of the error code and I found a line to edit out through Terminal and blammo, restore successful... back up and running again w/o issue.
 
Everything went smooth just had to update. Also can people please report how their battery life has been hopefully good. I"m running the vzw iphone on 4.2.6 thanks again.

yea, the jailbreak isnt working for me either. I am following the steps, but GP does not recognize the phone in DFU mode and says to try again. It came update to the most recent 4.2.6 firmware.

Anyone have any advice?

and you're running the B4 version, correct?
Itunes registers that you're in recovery mode, correct?
 
Oohhh, i got it. Apparently Green Poison doesn't seem to be working with my macbook pro, it worked with my vaio latop though. So, i guess for all those who are having trouble with GP detecting your iphone --> try it on windows. 🙂

P.S I hate windows
 
That's odd. It worked just fine on my MBP (Snow Leopard) using the current RC5 B4 version.

Glad you got it, eventually, though. It's been stable for me once I got it all configured.

Yeah im not sure what happened. I had the RC5 B4 version but it kept saying try again, even though the phone was in DFU mode. I figured i'd give it a shot and try it on my vaio, and it worked!!!!

The day has finally come.... a jailbroken verizon iphone (holy ****!!!)
 
Bumping a tiny bit to allow new Verizon users a confirmation.

On a side note: I've had no reboots, etc, since that initial Cydia one. Stable as can be.

Thank's I'm also trying to familarize myself with the process. I knew how to do all sorts of rooting stuff with my Incredible and now I gotta learn everything all over again hehe.
