I Will be getting my first White iPhone - do yes I will upgrade from my ip4.

But I do consider buying a Droid with a larger screen.
Apple will lose some of the early adopters here, they needed to release it with a larger screen - BIG FAILURE not to improve on the outer design in my opinion.

Apple will get my money, but they better upgrade the 4s with a larger screen or they lose my money next time around.

I'm sure a LOT will feel like I do, so Apple will lose some of their high tech customers with this and coming upgrades unless they do something seriously with the next upgrade !!!
And dont wait 15 months this time - 4s is already an antique before it's even released !!!!

If you already have an Iphone 4, then this upgrade is very very hard to justify.

Only thing I see on the iPhone 4S that I like is Siri.

The rest is blah blah.

I am going to think think and think.

You don't need to have the 4S to use siri

Nope, not really interested in the 4s exclusive features and my iP4 runs just fine. I'm happy sticking with it for another year, it still appeals to me more than any other phone on the market.

Demand is as strong as it ever was for the iPhone, so I can see why Apple didn't pull out a major redesign, when it can conserve resources and hold onto that for another year, or at least wait until demand starts to fall (iP5 June 2012?).

The external design might feel old to us that already have the phone and the novelty may have worn off, but for people who don't, it still looks like a sexy little number.

Where's the undecided option?

I do not like small screens. I like the apps from iOS much better than on android, but I enjoy the android experience more. I would've given an iPhone5 with a 4" screen a try for sure, but now, I'm leaning towards the gsII or waiting till next year.

Nice Upgrades

Yes. Who cares about a screen perhaps a little over 1/2 inch bigger. The Retina display is already fantastic. As for the 4S, the camera, with better color, white balance, optics, and last/least, more megapixels is a huge improvement (on paper anyway). Siri is way too cool. 1080p video, especially if that is also the output for all video files, as well as the other additions, all make for a real nice upgrade. Sure I like the idea of thinner, lighter, and the iPad like back, but those are cosmetics. The improvements Apple did make are of real substance.

I do not understand why anyone with an iphone 4 would "upgrade" to the 4s.

WHAT exactly are you going to be doing with that faster processor that the iphone 4 cant do? Are you really doing some intense computing on there? what are you going to be doing with 64 gigs that you really cant do with 32? store a bit more music/video? What are you going to be doing with a slightly better camera that you dont already do with your current one? Last I checked this was a cell phone and the camera is limited no matter how many megapixels it has. These are all poor excuses to upgrade from your existing iphone 4. To be honest its a flat out waste of money. Now if you DONT have an iphone 4, by all means this is awesome.

I love my iphone and have had one since the first generation and have upgraded EVERY time. But the current iphone 4 is plenty fast, the camera is great, and wtf would anyone that has the current 4 upgrade for? you would have to be a real fanboi or a super nerd to note the processor/space/camera because those arent big upgrades from the current setup.

The only major upgrade is iOS 5, and thats free and on my iphone4 in a week or so, so whats up?

agreed

I will buy it as I am eligible for an upgrade... however, can't say that I'm overly excited about it. Not the same excitement as I felt when moving on from a 3GS to a 4.

On the bright side, at least I can FINALLY get the white ip4...I bought the black because the white took so long to come out.
8mp camera is also good though.

Can't decide if I should pre-order on Friday or wait until next Tuesday and see what the new Android 4.0 phone will be like and then hope that if I don't like it the 4S won't be sold out.

Colour change?
I wanted the white ip4 when it was first announced about 16 months ago, but ended up going black because they never released it.

When they did eventually release the white, it just wasn't enough to warrant a switch.

But with the A5 and 8mp camera... I suppose it gives me more of an incentive to go and get a white 4S.

More money than sense? maybe... but I'm due an upgrade so why not use it.

No I will not be purchasing the iPhone 4S.

Mainly because I just switched over to Sprint with my new Motorola Photon 4G which I really like. But also, The new 4S has some nice features, However they aren't things that I desperately need. The Android platform is also growing on me, I've been a dedicated iPhone user since the original iPhone but now with work I like how when you plug in your Android phone it shows up as a flash drive(s) thus making it quite easy to manage my work documents, schedules, and etc.

I might switch back over to the iOS platform with the next iPhone generation, But until then I'm a happy Android user, and who knows by then, There will be even more devices to choose from.

Either way, I'm not dissing the iPhone 4S in anyway, I think it will be a nice upgrade for anyone who wants to upgrade or switch to Sprint, But other than that I wouldn't really consider it a "must have" if you already have an iPhone 4.

I didn't vote because the poll needs a "probably" option. :) Coming from a 27-month-old 3GS, I will probably pull the trigger on a 4S. I wanted the 64 GB option and was pleased to see it finally appear, but it is too expensive. I'll likely just stick with 32 GB.

An improved camera was probably my biggest want for this year's model, and however else you may feel about the 4S, I think Apple delivered there.

I'm a little annoyed about the lack of even Faux-G speed support, a larger screen (I think 4" is the sweet spot) or any other leading-edge tech, and if I had an iPhone 4 I definitely would not be upgrading.

The only problem with getting a 4S is that next year when the "true iPhone 5" appears, I fear the 4S' value will plummet because it was such a minor update. I hope to be able to sell the 4S when the 5 is announced and jump back on the primary update cycle with the rest of you (I skipped the 3G and the 4). That, combined with the fact that AT&T seems to have stopped their traditional annual iPhone contract pull-ahead, makes me think my plan will backfire next year.

I don't think the Galaxy S II is quite what I want, I can't leave for Verizon when they get the Nexus Prime and I don't want to wait still more months for the Prime to be available on ATT. My friends all have WP7 phones but I just can't get on board that ecosystem. So it will probably be the 4S for me.

No. My iPhone 4 is enough and 4s isn't that much different to justify switch.
I'm going to pass this one.
