Great pics Reeco.

Just deciding if i should pick one of these up; the idea of combining everything grows on me by the day.

One question, does the bookbook come with a retaining piece to hold it closed (as in pic 1 and 2), or is that an aftermarket mod you've done.

Cheers

Glad you like the pics. No the retaining piece is just a bit of elastic I bought. Cost about 12p. :)

But honestly I would get one, it's really a top quality product and can't praise it enough.

No retaining band with the real thing. That looks like a hairband in the pics you are referring too. :p

I returned my BookBook after one week of tryinig it out. Just wanted to give my experiences, of course YMMV.

First let me say that I've had an iPhone since launch day in 2007 and I've always run them naked, so for me this case was probably too much all at once.

My main issue was that the case was interfering with the proxmity sensor. More than half the time I would take a call my screen would remain on and I would get button presses. Maybe I didn't have the phone fully in the case? Not sure but this just wasn't good.

It was also difficult for me to use the iPhone when in the case. Simple things like sending a text or navigating to music while in the car. I had to manipulate the case too much as the front cover was sort of "in the way" during normal usage.

I still love the look and the "idea" of the BookBook. IMO it is the perfect case for when transporting the iPhone but less than ideal for when you are actually using the iPhone.

Had the same problem with the proximity sensor...huge flaw. I keep muting and turning on the speakerphone while taking phone calls. Really disappointed because I really did like the case.

You know what would be pretty sweet?if the phone could snap in and out of the bookbook so the flap isn't dangling while using it.

I have no idea why I didn't think about this earlier. I must've been in the "I must have aluminum case" phase. The wallet/case combo is perfect for my needs and it has a fully open 3.5mm jack area! Ordering mine tonight. :D

Just got the BookBook today, Amazon ships so fast! My first impressions are positive, this is such a convenient way to carry the iPhone and wallet at the same time. It holds 4 thick cards comfortably along with a few paper thin cards. Since it's handmade, everything doesn't line up perfectly but it doesn't really bother me at all. I really like twelve south products, this and the MagicWand works like a charm for me. :D

Got one yesterday. My anticipation has turned into disappointment, at least as far as the "build quality" of the wallet goes.

I carried it in the front pocket of my jeans as I went for a long walk. By the end, the brown finish was worn off in several places on the front and back cover. Seems like the dye they use isn't very strong. It's now more of a light tan then a deep brown, which I think makes it look cheap instead of antique-like.

Also, right out to the box, the spine of the wallet had almost none of the colour or gilded flourishes that I've seen in pictures of the case. I could barely even make out the words "Book Book" — there was almost no gold lettering at all.

I did find the pockets for the credit cards and paper money to be adequate for my needs — no complaints there. And, fortunately, I also had no trouble with the proximity sensor that others are experiencing.

I certainly expected the thing to show wear and tear as I used it; that's part of the appeal. But I didn't think it would look like garbage after being carried for just a couple of hours.

I may try the Kiwi Clear cleaner that has been mentioned elsewhere in this thread, to see if that might bring out some of the lustre I see in the pictures posted here and on the TwelveSouth website.

So who is going to get a BookBook for their 4S? Now that it's the same design.

I'm not sure what direction I'm going with a case yet, but really thinking about the BookBook. It seems really useful.

Would like to know if the current cookbook fits the 4S? I assume it does. Really thinking about getting this.

Yeah, it will. Twelve South says so on their website. I want to get it, but a white iPhone looks kind of odd in it.

Played with one at apple store, looks/ feels amazing, but don't think its for me, looking from practical use point.

Not really. I have a white iPhone in the BookBook, and it looks pretty snappy. I'll snap some pictures.

Really? Cool. Yeah, some pictures would help so I can decide. The ones I've seen weren't of really good quality.

Well i got mine the other week from the well known auction site!! Everyone else had sold out.
Wanted to wait to receive the brown leather skin with gold apple that i also ordered from aforementioned auction site (pm me for exact seller - great guy).

Now, with minor alterations to the bookbook so i can use the camera without sliding the phone up from the case, i believe i have my finished article.

Always hated this style of case, and i was always a 'wallet in back pocket' type of guy....always felt lost if i couldn't feel it there! But within a few days, i can't believe i how ever did without this type of case/wallet. I must have spent near on £150 on cases, ranging from aluminium type, to apple bumpers, through magpul etc etc (you get my drift....a lot of cases!).

I only need my driver's licence and 1 bank card so i use the other slot for money.

One major tip for anyone attempting the cut out for the camera. DO NOT USE A KNIFE. You must PUNCH the holes out of the leather, otherwise you will not get a clean cut. I sharpened an old Parker Pen tip (the fatter end) with a dremel, then punched both holes with a hammer while the bookbook was firmly placed on a hard surface. Then i just had to trim the excess inbetween the 2 circles (very small pieces, if you position the holes correct, you will not need to do the trimming).
Then just quickly show the leather hole a flame from a lighter (to 'seal' and burn off any excess edges), et voila, perfect hole.

Did i say.....I love this case, absolutely love it. (even put a ringtone on from Enigma - the chanting monks!!).

I picked up one of these today at the apple store. Went through all of them on the rack to get the least aged one on there. The fit on the switch and buttons isn't perfect but it doesn't seem like that big of a deal. I don't seem to have the proximity sensor issue either. Gonna give it a week of use before I decide to keep it. My only real complaint is the extra bulge in the pocket. Feels a bit like 2 phone in my pocket.

Okay I'm still not understanding how do you use your phone with case on it ? Does that not feel like you are holding your wallet next to your ear ? Can somebody help me understand how this is practical ?

I like this case a lot, but it kind of makes it look like you're carrying a travel-sized Bible around with you. Just a little funny-looking.

Maybe they'll update the case with a hole for the camera and a black color option someday.

Go ahead and get in touch with 12South. They'll make it right.

Your ear hitting the keypad? Your screen should be off while making a call. That's not a case problem - that's a phone problem.

It actually is a case problem. The case is covering up the proximity center that turns the screen off when you put the phone to your ear. I'm having the same problem. Is anyone else having this problem or is it just certain cases?
