just FYI everyone, the corsair value select ram kit seems to be hit or miss with Macs. Mine ended up causing 4 kernel panics in 3 days and I returned it within an hour of the 4th. The guy at Fry's even mentioned that this kit performs inconsistently with Macs. You get what you pay for.
That about half the price I paid for my 8GB kit. Any idea if 16GB would work in a mid-2009 MBP?

My pair has run the last 48 hours like a champ. Had some free hours earlier so I started Rember and ran 4 cycles. All of them passed. Didn't have time to do more, but the 5th cycle seemed okay as well.
Just picked up the same Corsair 16GB pair.. definitely runs a LOT hotter than the Samsung 8GB PC12800 (1600) 30nm pair I pulled out.
Also, Xbench is showing the corsair DIMMs about 10% slower than the Samsung 1600's...
Definitely concerned re: the heat generated running Rember..
I've got the bottom off and the DIMM's are so hot you can't touch 'em.
Anyone else getting this kind of heat running memory test?
I'm not passing this one up. $115 for a pair after MIR.

Lowest price I have seen. Time to look up guides on how to create a RAM disk...
just ordered, form europe. will see how that goes.
I didn't take the bottom off and felt the RAM directly (because I feared I might short it), but my fans didn't go any louder while Rember was running.
And in my general use, the bottom has never gotten noticeably hotter or anything out of place. But that might just be me.
The package did seem... dodgy, and I did get the impression that it was "cheap for a reason", but so far, it has been reasonably good, and the performance boost is something I can't deny... being that I rarely restart my Mac (perhaps once a week or after a critical update, whichever is more frequent).
I attached a thermocouple temperature probe to the DIMMS and towards the end of REMBER, they get to at least 170 degrees.. that seems really hot!
Do you happen to recall what chips were on your SODIMM modules? Mine are Corsair branded dram chips, but I'll bet they are made by a 3rd party and branded for Corsair.
So now, when will we see 32GB?![]()
Where in Europe did you order as I wouldn't mind ordering this from the UK - Do Frys ship to the UK?![]()

Dang! Feel bad for people who bought 8GB sticks a few months ago and paid 10x that!

We visited Corsair memory factory located in Fremont, California, where they manufacture their high-end memory (XMS series) and server modules. Corsair also has a factory in Taiwan, where their entry-level modules (Value series) are manufactured.
You can buy them from crucial uk store...

Hope this helps

lower voltage ram 1.35 from Crucial for $200.00I'm curious to see how low 16gb is going to drop in the near future. Seems to be plummeting...
I just ordered this same kit from newegg this morning for 160ish. Nice savings with this deal, but I have had great luck with newegg and think i'll keep my business with them.
