Quick question, though. Does more ram= more battery power?

I think that generally depends on your workload. If you use a lot of memory frequently (for photo editing, for instance), then you'll see some improvement, though mostly negated because it's insignificant compared to the load of the whole system.

It's mostly more RAM = better performance under certain workload.

Ran Rember all day today.. no Kernel Panics or any other issues.. Ram just works and is strangely running cooler than it did initially.

Just put it in and it's been working fine.

Ran Rember for about a day and no errors at all. It was 13 passes or so.

Also ran TechTool Pro 6's memory test, no errors.

I got my ram from Fry's a few days ago (overnighted) used my laptop about 10 hours a day since and not 1 problem.

If you disable paging (swapping to hard drive), you have your disk used less times, and thus more battery life.

You can do it with
Code:
sudo launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.dynamic_pager.plist
from your Terminal.
And you can re-enable it with "load" in place of "unload".

I suggest against doing it unless you have at least 8GB of RAM.
This made my MBP noticeably faster as well. The crappy 5400RPM drive is not bottlenecking as much as it used to, and upgrading to an SSD is not a top priority anymore. I think that's a great tweak for OSX since I think it uses swapping a little too aggressively.
After a reboot (?), from your system monitor, it can be seen that no swap is used anymore: http://i40.tinypic.com/2uyfy1w.png

I suggest against disabling page file even with 16GB. Page file is very useful for certain situations when RAM is filled up like no tomorrow.

For me, that happens occasionally, but when it does, it can cause crashes. Photoshop did it yesterday.

On a side note, it's been weeks without a single issue, so I can conclude that the Corsair sticks are good!

VLC likes to do it too.

I'm not passing this one up. $115 for a pair after MIR.

Lowest price I have seen. Time to look up guides on how to create a RAM disk...

I took the model number and looked it up at Amazon.com:

http://www.amazon.com/Komputerbay-P...WP50/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1326848041&sr=8-1

$139

Different brand sticker on it, but a MBP owner (Early-2011 owner like me) seems most happy with it. But another user had problems... a little more research and 'Komputerbay' does seem to be hit-or-miss...

I might wait for Corsair to lower prices before taking the splurge... they and Kingston seem to do well in Macs...

definitely hopping on board next time it hits <$120, please if anyone find it on sale post link to this thread asap:) right now best price is $139.99+tax(approx $150)on Newegg.com.....

Yea...

But I want Corsair 16GB RAM to hit amazon first before considering—(I want to use free Amazon GCs—PM for more info :)) Komputerbay seems bad.
