Apple might add themes eventually, but that could take several versions. Though it's not impossible for iOS 8 to have a classic toggle, especially if Apple decides to do everything they possibly can to make people really like and use iOS 8.

nope. Apple will definitely not do so.

iOS7 is like Apple's 1st step into flat design but filled with some design flaws here and there (some buttons/tabs are hard to distinguish)

iOS8 should be a more mature flat design :D

Actually that's highly unlikely from a technical standpoint. iOS 6 uses bitmaps for UI elements like buttons and iOS 7 uses masks. Totally different way of drawing the elements even if they look similar.

iOS 8 : iOS 7 :: Windows 7 : Windows Vista

(In the form of an SAT analogy.)

I sure hope so. After months of use, I still don't like the look of iOS 7. For some reason the overall responsiveness and animations seemed a lot faster in iOS 5 & 6. I would love all the features of iOS 8 just with a iOS 6 look. Does anyone think Apple will have themes? Perhaps have a classic theme? That would be awesome.

No they won't, they put lots of efforts in coming up with something new and most people are satisfied

----------

Apple may refine some of the icons or work with the color palettes a little bit but its no way in Hell going to look like iOS 6 ever again. That's like asking Microsoft to make Windows 9 look like Windows 3.1

Exactly, they've already started changing colors in iOS 7.1. Just a bit but still

Why? Weren't you guys saying two years ago that "We need an UI overhaul or we're switching to Android!" and that iOS 6 was "the Vista of iOS" and "OMG the statusbar and navigation bar matching colours is hideous!"?

You must be new to this "Apple" thing.

Shouldn't the mask method be faster and more efficient than bitmap?

In the words of Consuela from Family Guy 'No, no, no'.

In all seriousness, the iOS 6 look will never see the light of day again. iOS 7 is already being refined and tweaked in 7.1 and no doubt this work will continue.

So the same people were saying that that are saying this now? Or perhaps simply more than a single group of people exist?

It's never going to happen. Ever. Ever.

Also, I don't think that they'll release iOS 8 this June. I'd say it is going to be 7.2 or something.

iOS 7 isn't quite finished yet, and you think they're on 8th version right now? They need to polish 7 as much as possible before releasing the next version.

Has Apple ever done an iOS x.2 release? I can't recall but even if they release iOS 8 it doesn't have to look different. It could very well be a polished version of iOS 7 with newer features and continued bug fixes and refinements.

And is it really iOS 8? Nope.

Of course not, the lead person in charge of iOS 6 is long gone. Apple has a new design approach and the rumors of OSX 10.10 going with a flatter design only cement the idea of the design that iOS 7 is going to stick around for a long time.

I still think that UI wise iOS 7 is way better than iOS 6 and quite confident that Apple has the same idea.
We are going to see refinements, nothing more.

What very amuses me is that before iOS 7 one on the main criticism against iOS was that the UI looked "aged" :D

I'd like the idea, but I don't mean in terms of UI. I really hope iOS 8 will improve the code behind.

That was a fashion-tat point of view.

Most users and enthusiasts couldn't care less about how old the UI is.

I specifically didn't want Apple to rip off Android, specifically consider iOS 7 to be one of the worst tech disasters of all time and specifically stay away from Apple for now.

I'm not sure. I would think so but I'm no dev or UI designer.

You have to remember that 7.0 was the first release on a new UI drawing system. It mainly feels slow because Apple wanted the animations to have a flow to them. Unfortunately for them, most people find it slows them down so they've sped them up so far in the 7.1beta.

I think they'll scale the iOS 7 look back a tiny bit, basically some refinements where they maybe took the new design too extreme, but overall, it will be like iOS 7, but refined and better. (I think.)

I'm looking forward to iOS 8.

Ditto! Of course, they won't go back, but firing the fourth grader who designed the IOS 7 look, and persuaded the masses that dull unimaginative graphics are an improvement, would be a great start.

I never want iOS 6 back. It was hideously ugly tbh.

iOS 7 is a good stepforward but atill lots of room for progress. I think iOS 8 will keep the iOS 7 feel but replace round with angled.
