Tried the iPhone Apple Store App and somehow managed to get the 6+ 64gb Space Gray AT&T. USA. Shipping 9/19 :)

Last time I did this with the 5, I was able to go to the UPS Office in my town and pick it up there without waiting for them to come to me. I hope I can do the same this time around.

Finally got through on the ipad app by continually changing the configuration until it stopped erroring out. Ordered a 64GB Plus from ATT. Placed the order but noticed that I can't change the shipping address. I'd like to have it shipped to work since no one will be home to get it. Guess I'll call and have that changed later. And for those of us worried about retaining ATT unlimited data, it shows that my plan is unchanged:

How easy is it to change the shipping address? I'm on a family plan and I could only chose to have it shipped to my brother on the other side of the country? Very lame that I couldn't chose to have it shipped to the billing address on my CreditCard and iTunes account address!

Any USA customers able to get through on the website yet? It looks like they may be opening things up country by country.

What a Charlie Foxtrot!

OK, so, I placed an upgrade order through AT&T at about 12:10am pacific for a 64Gig 6+ silver, but AT&T has a terrible history around launch day shipping (often turning into 'shipping around christmas'), so I really didn't want to order both phones I'm upgrading through them. Worth noting that even my on-screen confirmation notice didn't have an expected ship date, and I haven't seen an confirmation e-mail yet.

Thanks to suggestions here, I tapped the iOS app repeatedly until it agreed I could order a 64 gig 6+ gold - it wouldn't sell me the other colors, but my wife will be cool with the gold one, so that's OK. I went to complete the order, and I got the 'we have an iPhone for you, but can't reach the carrier, so we'll get back to you on completing the order' message someone else has posted above.

I'm NOT confident in this outcome. I guess we'll see how it goes, but the net effect is that I've placed two orders, neither of which seem very solid and reliable, while the Apple Store just keeps saying 'Back soon'.

I'm pretty unhappy - pre-orders have always been relatively straightforward, as long as I was willing to stay up till the store opened, and get an order in quickly. This is a whole new level of FUBAR.

Long story short, what a CF, goat rope, amateur hour effort on the part of Apple and the carriers. This may be 'the mother of all upgrades', but having the main store down while pre-orders sell out is total BS. I would never have though to try the iOS Store app if y'all hadn't clued me in - the website has always worked before...

thankfully, I'm out of the country till the 28th, so Apple and AT&t have launch day plus nine more days to get phones out the door to me. I suppose it might work out, right?

Anyone ever see this before? What does this mean lol

Finally some one who got the same message nothing we can do but wait for the email to finish our orders but I do think this means we have a phone on hold. When I went back to the app and tried again it told me to call the 800 number for further assistance. I hope it's all good tried calling but apple just hangs up on me due to the high call volume. If anyone knows for sure that we have a phone on hold would me much help.

Can I cancel an order?

I ordered from att.com. The store actually opened 7 minutes early! The iPhone 6 Plus was available for shipping in 14-21 days even before the Apple Store opened! Now that got into the Apple Store App, I can get my iPhone 6 Plus Gold 128GB in 7-10 business days (it was September 19, release date at 3:32 AM EDT).

I didn't order until 3:17 AM EDT because I was hopping to get earlier shipping from Apple and all that did was put me further back in line! That is really frustrating!

My question is still the same: Can I order through Apple.com and get it in 7-10 business days, and cancel my AT&T order? Since I could probably have the iPhone 6 Plus in hand before AT&T even has it for shipment!

Ok, I finally got two iPhone orders in though the iPhone Apple Store App

iPhone 6+ Silver 128GB @2:25 AM

iPhone 6 Space Gray 64GB @3:05 (after much refreshing and unavailability notices)

The only problem I ran into was Apple Care+. They never offered to add Apple Care! I tried purchasing as a separate order after I ordered the phones but they wouldn't allow me without the iPhone in the cart. I didn't want to add them while I was ordering the phones because I could be late with the order or run into an error because of so many people trying to order. Why I want it on the 19th? Because I work offshore and my time is precious and I will be going out of town that Sunday.

Has anyone else have this problem or experienced it? Hopefully customer support can help add that.

difficult - to prevent fraud

Apple may do it but it may delay your order

Ran into the same problem. I heard from others you have up to 30 days to order Apple Care Plus. Going to try to order Apple Care + tomorrow once things settle down.

Very strange.

In the UK, the desktop site works and I've reserved my iPhone 6, no issues, the chances that someone else on this thread will be getting one from Chapelfield in Norwich is very slim but ALL models are available to reserve.

Lmao I got the same message. Everyone told me best to do preorder and that it was the wisest thing to do. If I knew it was going to be this difficult I would have waited

I used to be a network capacity planner for Schwab but I cant imagine dealing with this gl people haha.

Even if they do everything right, I'd bet on the service confirmation APIs for the various carriers being a big bottleneck. (AT&T, Sprint and Verizon all seem to be a mess everywhere else they touch the web - not sure why these would be any different.) It wouldn't be surprising if they're leaving things app-only in some regions until demand wanes and error rates drop enough to take on more load from web orders.

If you are trying to upgrade an ATT iPhone that you have in your hand…

Use that iPhone!

Turn off the wifi on that iPhone, so that you're using ATT's LTE data network!

Launch the Apple Store app, and proceed from there.

That worked for me. You get to a point where it asks you if you want to upgrade THIS phone, you say yes, then the rest of the process goes right through.

At about 3:50AM I placed the order this way to upgrade my ATT iPhone. Chose to pick it up at an Apple store. Says it will be available on 9/19. Got the order email receipt. Says they'll send another email to confirm when it's ready for pickup.

Good luck.

I just (at 4:02am EST) got it to work on WiFi (FiOS) by using the iOS Apple Store app on my at&t 5S and selecting the "replace this phone" option! It took almost an hour of tapping around randomly for any and all configurations just to get the "CONTINUE" at the top to turn blue and become active, and then finally it worked for the 6+ 128 GB model I wanted ... the problem was it said available to ship in 9-10 business days or pickup in a few weeks ... I took a gamble that there was no way out of their 80,000,000 supposed units my heavily traveled and therefore heavily stocked local Apple Store was already out, especially since the actual site still isn't even up, so I continued. Once I finally entered my payment information etc. and was on the LAST page, it said I could pick it up 9/19 at my closest store and it seems to have worked! The app gave me an order number and I immediately received an email confirming my 9/19 availability and the purchase!

TL/DR: Keep tapping everything you can in the Apple Store iOS app on the iPhone you're trying to replace (if possible) and it can work for local pickup!
