It happened as I was opening Apps. I'll see if it continues but thx for the helpful reply.
Much appreciated.

Which apps?

Were they apps that you downloaded or apps that came installed. There are some apps that will not work well with ios8.

I would also consider upgrading to 8.0.2 as most who have had no problems. This could cure it before having to return your device.

I had this yesterday. Phone was locked and on my table. Next thing apple logo appears and phones restarted itself! Wasn't even in use.

I hope apple start to improve their software because the last few releases have been amateurish at best

iPhone 6 randon resprings

Has been happening consistently on my iPhone 6 for at least two days. Might correspond with my update to IOS 8.02, but cannot be certain. Doesn't matter which app is open or if any app is open. I watched it for three hours today and logged 21 resprings ranging from 6 to 15 minutes apart. This is rather annoying.

Just setting up my wives nee 6 Plus and experienced the restart. I think the screen flashed white with the Apple logo then back to normal. I don't think it was a full reboot.

Happened to me once on 8.0.2. Clicked to check a text that came in while I was using an app and the Apple logo popped up. Was like WTF.....

Probably another iOS bug. They still have lots of buys to squash.

:apple:

So after updating to iOS 8.02 Saturday the rebooting issue had stopped until today, my iPhone 6 was on the table and I saw the apple logo and it rebooted, this is not good.

Experiencing this too. iPhone 6 space gray 64GB running 8.0.2 software. Set it up as a new phone (vs. restoring from an iCloud backup) and did clean installs of all apps.

No pattern to the app or usage. Sometimes locked on the table, sometimes watching a video in the photos app, sometimes using a 3rd party app.

Also, sometimes it goes straight to apple logo, while other times I get an actual blue screen of death (full panel lights up bright blue) for a few seconds first. I've even had it remain on the Apple logo indefinitely and had to do a hard reset (lock button + home button for ~10sec).

Glad I'm not the only one experiencing this.

Happened to me for the first time, on iOS 8.0.2. Was going to answer a FaceTime call while browsing the appstore and boom, a quick refresh as opposed to a reboot. Apple logo popped up, but the phone quickly resumed in about 5 seconds.

My dad's iPhone 5 is having a torrid time though, hangs atleast once a day since updating to iOS 8 :(, whereas the 5 which my mum uses is totally fine, iOS 8 is bugging the hell out me !

This has happened to me about 5 times since I got the phone on Monday. I'm on 8.0.2 and after the first two times I did a restore. Every time it's different apps and once I was on a FaceTime call. It's always the 5 second restarts.

The restarting bug is something that also plagued the 5S when it was first released. It was fixed shortly after with a firmware update.

For what it's worth... I was getting sick of this and starting to experience app crashes and freezing as well, so I installed the 8.1 beta earlier today. Still having all of the same issues. :(

getting the reboots since 8.0 as well. Also tried with 8.1 and restored as new.

At first maybe I thought it was a 3rd party keyboard, but it's random.

Hi all,

My iPhone 6 plus 128 GB steel gray(verizon) has maybe rebooted when I first purchased, THEN I decided to do something to change the way it looks and I further looked into this issue, AND today I went to apple and had mine replaced. So lets start on my findings

1. "Settings" then "display & Brightness" under the display zoom "View"
"Standard" OR "Zoomed"

2. "Settings" then "Touch ID & Passcode" then "iPhone Unlock"

Now My phone would just reboot itself after I made this change like this

3. Reboot, show lock screen for about 1 to 5 seconds then Reboot, show lock screen for about 1 to 5 seconds then Reboot, over and over and over UNLESS I typed in my password quick enough to get into my iPhone.

This happened every time I either restarted my phone or it randomly restarted itself, NOW this only did this AFTER I CHANGED #1 above
To STANDARD

So at 3 am this morning I woke up thinking (I know that is very dangerous), that my phone maybe randomly rebooted before 1 or 2 times but never like this when I was in zoomed mode, So I put my phone back in zoomed mode and the reboots (my #3 above) STOPPED!!!!! So I did some digging and found this thread and an apple thread on this, Well on the apple thread someone posted that the touch ID was the cause for them so I re enabled Standard and disabled the touch and guess what No more #3 above. But I did get a random reboot.

I have also read that from several posters, they started from creating a new iPhone and have random reboots, SO that does not seem to help also, as that is not on my list at the moment to do.
Also some have posted that the new IOS 8.1 beta does not fix the random reboots. ( I have no Idea yet where to get it)

So I made an appointment at the apple store and my phone was swapped out today, I just got done loading it up and reboots same as my #3 above in standard and touch ID on. So a new phone does not fix this!

The only thing so far is putting your phone to zoomed, try that and post back please, if it still does random reboots try to ALSO disable touch ID.

PLEASE post back

Thanks to all!!!

EDIT : I updated to 8.0.2 and phone just reboot, reboot, reboot,,, at this point I am setting up as a new iphone, BUT this should not have to be done this way!

dfran, thanks for tracking this down! For some reason, I haven't had a random reboot for the last 12 hours or so (was happening 1-2 times an hour), but the second it happens again, I'll try switching to zoomed and see if it kills the reboots.

Makes me wonder if maybe its an issue with apps that haven't been updated to support iPhone 6 resolutions.

It happened a lot when I had my IP5 and it happened 3 times with my 6 plus now.

Take your phones in to the Genius bar. Have them check the crash logs, and do a restore. The restore they can do is a little different than what you can do at home.

I got my iPhone 6 128gb on 9/19. Since that Friday, it has restarted twice by itself.
Actually it was both today. Still on iOS 8.
Anyone else experience their 6 restarting by itself?

its probably haunted. take it to a catholic church.

It's a bug with iOS 8. My 5 did this a couple times after installing iOS 8. Haven't noticed it yet on my 6+. Only had it for a coupe days so far.

I had the sudden restart yesterday I saw the apple logo then the entire screen turn red for about 2seconds returned to the logo on with a black background then again red. This happed for about 2 minutes. With my frustration I held the power button until the phone suddenly started. This morning as I placed my phone down i saw it restart again.

I switch from my Android s4 to this!!! It's making me regret with apples terrible release of there new os. Mind you I have an iPhone s5 for work with iOS 7 with no issues.

I wonder if apple knows these issues and are planning to solve them alone with the 78% increase of apps crashing on iOS 8.

Hi,
I have restored my new phone, updated to the 8.0.2 and I did a wipe as soon as I got to a menu, then I set it up as a new iphone.
I have touch and standard on right now and will update if reboots come back
BUT I think you have it here, I noticed so far that some of my apps that did restore with all the wonky reboots are NOT available to me on the app store, using the app on my phone. I think you may have something, my friend has a 6+ also and he reloaded from scratch and no reboots yet, its only been a few days tho.

I will keep this thread updated.

Note : to all try my suggestions above in my previous post and please let us know if it helps.
