I've had it restart on me several times. Im going to do a fresh install with 8.1 and not restore from backup and see if that helps.

I just had my 6+ exchanged because it kept resetting. I purchased my 6+ on launch day. The replacement iPhone 6+ just reset/crashed.

I erased all content and settings and restored as new so its not related to a backup.

Is it the 128GB 6+?

This doesn't seem to be strictly an iPhone issue. Just had this happen to my 3rd gen iPad. Definitely an iOS 8 issue!

Saw it happening quite a bit on 8.0 & 8.0.2, but it seems to have lessened with 8.1.1 (although it's still definitely there)

This started happening to me last night on my week or 2 old 6+ 64gb. Just done it for the last 10mins too.

Keeps restarting with the Apple logo then will come back on eventually. Is it a replacement job then?
Pretty disappointed tbh.
Was iPhone for a long time then went to a S4 when it came out but just come back as everything else I own is Apple lol but now it's a bit or a sour Apple

I recently have noticed this. It happened before wit 8.1 but it is happening at least two times a day now.

I didn't restore it from back up and I am thinking of taking it in to apple because this is just not what I paid for.

It happens about once a week on my 6+ 64 no way I'm exchanging though I use my phone A LOT so it's relatively stable and it sounds like IOS 8 is the issue not the hardware

I remember 7.0 being horrid so much so I leapt to 7.1beta at the time otherwise I was going to return my mini retina and go back to iPad 3 on iOS 6. 8.1.x is essentially 8.0 with apple pay and small revisions.

Still Happening?

Wondering if this is still happening to a lot of people. I got my iPhone 6/64GB on launch day and approximately three months later this started happening. I took the phone to Apple and they were quick to give me a new phone (which leads me to believe this isn't software related?).

I setup my iPhone as new, just in case it was an error in my backup. Second phone started doing the same thing within 2-3 weeks. Got a third phone. Now, 2-3 weeks later, I'm experiencing the same issue. I've looked back at my Genius Bar visits and we're talking ALWAYS within 2-3 weeks. What's causing it to happen in the same time frame and not right away?

The fact that Apple is so quick to give new phones out just makes me think that there is something defective with the release of the phone, not the iOS. Anyone found a fix? Or a work around? Or something new that someone hasn't listed in this thread?

This was last updated February 5th, 2015 and not sure how it read before but

"You might see this unexpected behavior on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch if you have an older version of iOS. These steps can help. "

Seems like acknowledgment to me

^ glad I didn't swap hardware like you because my screen is PERFECT.

I think it's more likely the genius is quick to swap the phone because iOS 8 is wonky as hell and just to rule out hardware being the issue, they'll do you a solid. Some of them at least.

Three phones doing it in a row, seems to be not the issue

Yeah my iOS is certainly up to date, as well as all my apps. I've even tried to delete apps that it *seems* to do this constantly with as I open them.

Extremely frustrating in my line of work, I have apps I need for work, and if one of them crashes in the middle of using it, I'm up creek without a paddle. I have another Genius Bar appointment on Wednesday. This time, I'm not just going to let him swap the phone. We're going to sit down and figure out the issue.

How else can he/she fix it? it's not a retail employees doing, it's Cupertino's and its software engineers and lack of quality control. A 'genius's' abilities are limited to swap or advice to set up the device as new, which you have.

At which point they'll swap it again.

I said they could swap it or tell you to set it up as new.

three phones in a row would be really bad luck for stability unless Apple is dropping the ball on hardware that hard. For something like a crap screen, I can totally believe it but it seems iffy in this situation.

You could also conceivably be trolling, but if so, I have no interest.

Haha, I have much better things to do than to troll on this forum about a specific issue? I do believe it's hardware. I've set the phone up new three times, and all three times you're telling me after two-three weeks it fails? If it were software it'd be happening to more people. A lot more people.

I think the RAM is bad - my personal guess. In an entire release of their phones. They're realizing it, and are just swapping it out hoping it's a corrected lot.

again, you've had three phones in a row.

now you've set the phone up as new three times and each times its crashed? if that were the case and not the former, definitely swap it to see if results are better as i would think maybe it would be worth trying to.

this seems relevant

Correct. I've swapped three times now, each time setting it up as brand new. 2-3 weeks later (with the exception of the first phone that I got on launch day) has started to crash.

Ok I just started getting this issue after having my iphone 6 plus for three weeks now. Really annoying and frustrating for a $800 device! What is the requirements to get your phone replaced if this is not a ios issue? I bought the phone new but from ebay and not in any kind of retail box, just the phone only with no accessories. Am I entitled to warranty returns? How do I go about taking care of this issue?

does it completely reboot (start up time) or just do apple logo for a few seconds back to lock screen?

The apple logo for a few seconds then back to the lock screen. It happens mostly when I start the game I play most of the time, it starts to load then screen goes black then the apple logo then lock screen. It is only when the game is not loaded in the memory and has to start it up completely rather then resuming it, ie when I had loaded a different game before it it will reload rather then resume. Other games it resets maybe 25% of the time but this game is every time(simcity buildit). And rarely it will reset when I am browsing the internet or checking email.....

I remember that I had this issue with iPad air and iOS7. Issue dissapeared by iOS 7.1. By logs and usage I would say that there was/ is issue with RAM, maybe there is some leak and it does springboard reboot.

It is odd that when it started it was well after I updated which was after I first got the phone, so after about three weeks it just started out of the blue which I would think is a hardware issue.

Same was with iOS 7 and mine iPad air. Doesnt matter if freshly installed software or restored from backup after some time it started to crash. If it would be hardware, it would crash first day ;)

I was so coaxed by this thread and other complaints about this that I didn't think to just reset the device. A hard reset fixed the issue.

I've been having this issue for a while now. Resets help for a while and it's absolutely gotten better with the recent software updates, but it definitely still happens. For me at least it seems to be happening when I'm trying to bring up the multitasking screen. It'll hang for a few seconds, then display the multitasking screen for a second before showing the apple logo, and booting me to the lock screen after ~15 seconds.
