I feel like pre-ordering the space grey sports edition at 9:01am on Friday just to see if I can actually make it on the first charge. I am such a marketing loser, someone has to stop me. I don't even like watches

I doubt a 500+ dollar band will be in a similar box to a 19 dollar lightning cable. Fake

Apple pack a 500+ dollar iPad into a box like that, a 2000+ dollar iMac into a thin simple box... Why wouldn't they do the same with a watch?

Fits within other watch box vocabulary, do you think the edition will come on a small pillow with black and gold themed box?

Apple is trying to get into the luxury watch game. If you've ever bought a luxury watch you get a nice case with it. This is junk.

On several sites this is being reported as a fake. Let us hope. :D

If Im spending 1k on a watch a nice case would make sense. This ain't it.

This is packaging of a 379$ watch. What do you want more? Apple Watch Sport and stainless steal are not luxury items since they are cheap!

The Apple Edition watch will come in much nicer packaging, dont worry.

Looks fake to me. The apps loaded on the watch look like photos we've seen elsewhere and the watch itself looks pasted onto the loop. Also the configuration doesn't make sense to me for how it would actually fit into the box in a fashion that would create the typical Apple wow factor when opening it. Also the packaging for the band on the jobs site is totally different. It could be real for sure, but I'm not believing yet.

Looks like the watch lays side ways, with the non-crown side of the watch lays inside the little dip. The charger and document would be underneath like every other Apple product.

Please see packaging for your iPhone, iPod Touch. All had similar packaging and similar pricing.

What band is that even? I'm not aware of any brown leather other than the modern buckle and the stone finish, neither of which seems to be on that box.

Confirmed accurate by Mashable's review:

The Watch sits sideways in the little divot in the plastic box. That box then fits inside a larger box where the charger and manuals live. Think of it as a "gift box".

I think the packaging is beautiful and I can tell a lot more thought has gone into it than with most products. It's a good idea to keep all the Apple packaging because if you look on eBay you'll find out that resale of Apple items are usually at a higher price if you can ship it in all the original packaging. Although I do take all the Apple stickers out. I bought a big tree wall decal for my office and will put all my Apple stickers on it. I even have original rainbow color stickers from back in the day :)

I just gave away my Apple II a year ago. I really keep my apple products for a long time, so the boxes are not that necessary. By the time I am ready to let go, there is little value left in it.

Should have made the packaging a charging base. I think that it might only be available for the $10k watch.:(

its got to be a fake retail package for the strap anyway...

That box is way too big.....

But miracles have happened before .....:apple:

the box for the cable, bands, iPhones, iPads, and even MacBooks are very similar. so why not?

Yep. Very similar.

Got curious and checked to see what other stainless steel watch boxes are like, in increasing price order:

And before we find out about the Apple Watch Edition box, here's what a $6,000 Breitling Navitimer World unboxing is like... a couple of orders of magnitude beyond, with embossed documentation wallets and leather inner cases:

Hmm

If I am spending $500 + for a band only, I would like it something better than a cardboard box or a $500 watch in a plastic box with flocking.

I have purchased $500 watches that come in a beautiful wooden display box, Apple has to step up their watch packaging big time.

lmao...its just a box for a band. The present for a watch is something else, its an experience.

The box for 10,000 Mac Pro is the same for a 3,000 mac Pro and neither are anything fancy.

Hell, I bought a new car once, had a few miles on it from test drives, that was way more than 500$ and 10,000$ - it didnt come with a fancy box or anything like that.

dont worry about it, its a damn band and youll completely forget the box experience once you use it

If your Movado didn't come with a nice, black case, it's fake. I don't know what the Apple watch case will ultimately look like, but if it's just a box with a plastic piece the watch sits on, that says more cheap sport watch and less fine jewelry.

My Movado came in a black case, warranty card, some booklet, etc. I didn't think it was all that nice though.

While I do buy from authorized Movado dealers, having the service center near my house in NJ was great to have it verified of authenticity.

is it a designer piece or a tech gadget,
tech gadget or designer piece.

even the box is confused.

if it's a gadget, sure, but apple says the watch is a designer piece... designer watches come in nice fancy packaging because it's designer.

I always loved the packaging my Citizen watch came in.

and this is from a watch that is 1/2 the cost of the Apple Watch

Keep them a little longer and they are a valuable antique.

If Apple decides to use old cellular technology in the next model to save some cash, then yes.

Well Apple did exactly that with the 1st iPhone, old 2G tech.
